Locking in power dollars rebate on a custom order

6164 Views 20 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  Tannehill
If I order a 2020 hellcat today, is it possible to lock in the power dollars rebate? So even if it takes 4 months to be delivered and FCA has stopped the power dollars in that time, I could still get the rebate because I ordered while it was still going on.

Thanks!

According to my preferred dealer, yes, it locks in rebate.

I hardly think power dollars will be a 1 month thing

Yes I think you'll still get the $7,970. plus about $5,000. dealer discount
No. It doesn't work that way at all. If a dealer tells you the rebate can be locked in, they are lying. Rebate only applies to the car at time of delivery.

Lol if a dealer tells me im getting it, i order, and it doesnt happen? I dont sign and theyre stuck with a customer ordered car.

Slidd keeping it real..lol
Incorrect.
No. You're incorrect. The fine print is very clear. Must take delivery by 3/31. Does not say "must place order by 3/31".

That's right...but they know whether the rebate is on or off, you'll probably still accept delivery of the car because there it is, perfectly optioned exactly the way you want it....and they probably realize this power dollars rebate will continue, as it has been available every month since August of last year.

Nah never happen. I’d walk so fast it would actually be a run.

I did see that Sold Order Protection on a few build sheets so that could make the difference. So I stand corrected if true. The retail delivery part I guess relates to lot cars, an order they might consider for the most part, already delivered for the purpose of the rebate.

It says "select sold order protection". It makes no reference to any manufacture incentive. Again, the fine print says it so very clear "Accept delivery by...."

Over the last several months, others have shared how their dealer has promised to "lock in" the rebate. Every person who had their deal "locked in" got what was promised to them....because this incentive has been available since August of last year. It would have been more interesting had this promotion run for a few months and then we would have really been able to see whether these deals truly were "locked in".

Well im about to place an order so we shall see. If the PB promo ends before the vehicle arrives, we’ll see what happens. I already told the dealer that ill walk without it and he said it won’t be an issue. I’ll send him a small refundable deposit and wait it out.

A couple days ago you had no clue how allocation even worked (see your own thread), yet you're going to tell me how sold order protection works?

Dealer orders the car in DEALERCONNECT before March 31. Checks box to protect as sold order...boom, incentive locked. Only the dealer can screw you now if they were to raise your negotiated price.

Dodge doesn't have much inventory out there yet for 2020. They can't build & deliver any in 3wks, it should be common sense it's protected.

Yes, I was not sure whether Dodge allocated cars/spots like other manufactures, specifically Porsche, that works on an allocation system. Point conceded....but I'm not completely clueless and not without any experience in this matter.

I inquired about ordering a Hellcat last year and sent e-mails to pretty much every dealer in So Cal. Every dealer informed me that you could not "lock in" the rebate and could only use whatever manufacture rebate was available at time of delivery....as it says very clearly in the fine print.

You're argument that it's "common sense" that the incentive is locked in because there is very little inventory of 2020 is without merit and is conjecture. The reality is, there are 2020 Challenger and Chargers Hellcats on dealer lots. Not a huge inventory of Chargers, but Challengers are there and ready to be purchased. The more reasonable argument is that because so many 2020s are in transit, it's very likely that Dodge will continue this promotion....and because they have been doing so for the last 7.5 months and nobody at this point is going to buy these cars without the rebate.

Tannehill, if you have personal experience ordering a car and accepting delivery with a rebate that is no longer offered, just because you ordered it during the promotion, then I would genuinely like to hear about it and I will happily eat my words...but unless that's the case, you should probably tone it down a bit.

You should tone it down or else your participation here isn't going to be very fun. Many folks ordered cars the back half of last year and the incentive was locked upon ordering and they had no problem. Your problem is So. Cal. and their dealers that are unwilling to budge (along with a lot of other problems in California!).

I've owned quite a few cars in my 43yrs, especially SRTs. My family use to be in the industry (both dealer and manufacturer) and I still have very good contacts who provide me info.

FYI: Rebate for Hellcats gets locked. But there are Ram incentives that have specific requirements and cannot be locked in/don't have checkbox.
So to El Guapo‘s point - it does make sense that because the Power Bucks promo is still ongoing we won’t really know how it plays out until it actually ends, but we may never know because people like me will will never buy one without it and FCA knows this. Unless theyre actually losing money, the promotion isnt likely to end anytime soon. They have recouped their R&D and are prob well into the profits with this age old platform. They can prob afford to keep this promo going indefinitely.

I don't dispute that there were individuals who placed an order with the promise of the rebate "locked in". My argument, as I said earlier, is that of course these people had no problem, as you say, receiving the "locked in" incentive because there has been no interruption of this incentive since it started in August of last year....this incentive has been available every month for the last 7 months. Whether you were "locked in" or not didn't really matter.

With this all said, since you have family history and experience in the dealer and manufacturing sectors, I'm going to go ahead and take your word. I just would have appreciated more insight into this matter and some explanation rather than your reply of simply "Incorrect" to one of my posts. I can only contribute based on my own experience....which is pretty much every dealer in So Cal saying this wasn't possible. Maybe they don't care, maybe they don't know. Who knows. That said, I hope that we all get what we want and good luck to you all.

From what I found out from the dealer is it is for vehicles in stock or ones that get delivered within the program time
