The used car manager from Koons must be bottom feeding off their internal records. She sent me two emails today.

She opens with: "I hope all is well! I'm reaching out because I understand you bought a 2022 Vehicle from Craig a few months ago. As you know the used car market is BOOMING and we'd love to give you a little more than what you paid for. Let me know what you think."

I responded with the following: "$150,000"

She emails back: "What's the mileage? Let me see what I can do"

I respond: "361 miles"

A half hour later she says: "Best I can do is $80,000"

I respond back: "$180,000"

She then emails back: "I'm guessing you're not really looking to get rid of it just yet. I understand, it's a bad ass machine. Haha. I can probably get you a little more now but not another $100k:

My final response to her was: "I'm guessing you're not really serious about buying when you offer $80k on a car that stickered for $87,490 before taxes and fees just 50 days ago, and had not depreciated one cent in value but has, in fact, increased in value well over the $20,000 ADM you're going to attach to it to sell on your lot. I've already been offered well into the six figures for the car from several potential private buyers who have seen the car in person. I declined them as well. If you're interested in paying me a finder's fee I'd be happy to refer them to you. Maybe you have something on your lot they might be interested in."

:ROFLMAO:

Put a full-page ad in your local paper. Whoever it is they are trying to rip off will see it, and can buy it for 250k from you instead of 300k from them or whatever.

The moment the money hits your bank account, (Do bank transfer, not an idiotic cashier's check, which have been canceled and can still be canceled) order another one, or order as soon as the books open.

She has a rich, impatient buyer. You find him instead. They cannot offer him a car that is less-one-owner-already'd than you can.

Not about to sell the Heckitty after all I've been through to get it. I was just messing with her since the longer she spent wasting time with me, the less time she was bugging one of you guys. I'm retired so I can do this all day long! LOL

I received two of those also, and so did one other guy I know of! I expect all their customers will eventually get the double email! Talk is definitely cheap, glad you got us some entertainment from it! :)

BTW: I;m retired also and I can't keep up with all the crap I need to do! I think I need to move to NJ!

Ok story but tbh people spend so much time here researching who has the best deals and trying to pay the least amount possible, trying to cut dealers throats whenever possible, only to then blatantly shit on them when they offer them more than they paid? I must be the only one who doesn't get it. A simple “no thanks” would've worked. Pretty sure you were nice as pie when you were getting the original deal. Who cares what they would mark it up to? People are more than happy with dealers who give them 6% below invoice but are suddenly offended when that same dealer tries to make money by offering them more than they paid. I understand the sentiment and reasoning but I guess I just dont agree with the delivery.

The problem was that she was offering me well under what I paid and from the other comments she was making that I didn’t include for the sake of brevity, she was pretty much doing the old used car salesman ploy of denigrating my car as just another depreciated used car that just dropped in value the moment it left their lot and that I should consider the 80k the highest amount anyone would be crazy enough to pay for it.

I don’t think anyone is offended with a higher offer, it’s just with every 10 dealer experiences there might be 3 that are good. We are just paying back the seven…

they wanted to buy my ram back. Its a 2020 that stickered at right at 50k. they offered me 43k which i thought was great until i looked at there site on line and they had the twin to mine with 10k more miles for sale for 47. Then factor in you really cant find what you exactly want. Its about to the point where you settle for what they have and thats mostly 6 cyls left and they wont budge a dime off of sticker and when i bought my they knocked almost 10k off the sticker so in all reality there not giving you crap for your vehicle even with higher then normal trade in prices because there making it back and more on the new one and still turning a fair profit off of yours. I usually trade trucks ever 3 years. But i told the wife this isnt the time to buy a new one. We will just run this one till prices come back down to earth even if thats 10 years. What i scratch my head at are prices on vechiles like pickups and hellcats. Youd think with gas prices nobody would want them and prices would come down like they did in the 70s gas crisis but if anything there going up. I absolutely stole a 73 chev 4x4 new on the lot in 73. Nobody wanted it. It was a beautiful blue Cheyane. So it sure wasnt something people normaly wouldnt have jumped on. Dealer told me he had 6 pickups left and couldnt sell a single one of them and he cut his truck order in half for 74 and this IS TRUCK COUNTRY. What was flying out of the showrooms? He said he couldnt keep a vega on the lot for more then 2 days.

What the car "stickered" for is regardless to some degree. If you had ordered from Koon's, you most likely paid well under MSRP. Her offer was not horrible, but I'm not saying I would sell it for that either. Realistically, these handful of dealer who are offering deep discounts on orders... are absolutely not the buyers for these cars in the secondary market.
