UPDATE FROM PAGE 3:
OP:
As many of you are quick to let me never forget, I once ordered a Jailbreak late last year and it went tits up. That's what led me to cross shopping everything from LC500s, to M4s, 911s, and ended up settling on a C8.
Today, as I'm just minding my business at work, I get a phone call from Tallahassee Dodge. The sales guy says, "Hey, you might remember me, I was your sales rep for that whole debacle with your Jailbreak." I told him I remembered. He then went on to explain that after I canceled that order, they refunded my deposit and through a cosmic set of missteps, they forgot to cancel my order. The general manager I was dealing with at the time has since left the company and apparently they neglected to physically cancel my order out of the system.
Well, the sales guy tells me that the car has been built and is in final inspection. If I would entertain taking delivery of it, they'll honor their original price (96.1k, the car has every single option you can get), and they expect the car to arrive sometime in the 1st or 2nd week of January as a 2022 model. This comes at a fortuitous time, since I am knee-deep in BS mechanical problems with the C8 right now. Engine has an oil leak and just had the trans replaced.
Long story short, I told them that if they honor the numbers AND they make me a decent deal on the C8 for trade, I'd likely take them up on the offer. So, we'll see what happens. FWIW, I've only put 900 miles on the 3LT C8 and it is on trans #2 and now has an engine issue. I'm not pleased with it, to say the least. Yes, the C8 is a more engaging car... it's faster in most respects, handles better, has better tech... but THE CAR WONT FRIGGIN WORK. Say what you will about the Hellcat, I never had any problems with either of mine. The JB I ordered still rubs me wrong, as it would have been a beautiful car. If it really is the same one I ordered, I might become a Mopar guy again.
Maybe?
And, while I had him on the phone, I asked about their Black Ghost and they have it listed at a 50k ADM, but they'd take 25k over for it, if anyone wants to pay that for a sticker.
"The car is not built. However, it is D status with a VIN. The factory is converting it to a 2023 model set to go D1 in early January. My last order never got a VIN and this one is now 01 priority instead of 99 as it was before.
It isn’t shown in the photo, but at the bottom myself and the GM have signed the price and they are honoring the 2022 price at 98.1k (inflation markup), no ADM. The GM also mentioned that he has received word that Dodge is expected to reinstate Power Dollars in March by the time the car arrives. If so, then that means I’ll be getting a fully loaded WBJB for under 90k.
As of now, I’m officially back in Moparville.
The whole reason this build got stuck in their system was because the dealership got bought out by new owners and when they did their data transfer, it removed all the customer data from their sold orders. So, this build stayed in the system for 12 months until it won the factory non-allocation lottery and they didn’t even know it was there until the factory sent them the update 2 days ago. Apparently I canceled my order the same day the dealership traded hands. So, the order got dumped from their system, but was never communicated to the factory. Crazy circumstance."
