UPDATE FROM PAGE 3:

"The car is not built. However, it is D status with a VIN. The factory is converting it to a 2023 model set to go D1 in early January. My last order never got a VIN and this one is now 01 priority instead of 99 as it was before.
It isn’t shown in the photo, but at the bottom myself and the GM have signed the price and they are honoring the 2022 price at 98.1k (inflation markup), no ADM. The GM also mentioned that he has received word that Dodge is expected to reinstate Power Dollars in March by the time the car arrives. If so, then that means I’ll be getting a fully loaded WBJB for under 90k.
As of now, I’m officially back in Moparville.
The whole reason this build got stuck in their system was because the dealership got bought out by new owners and when they did their data transfer, it removed all the customer data from their sold orders. So, this build stayed in the system for 12 months until it won the factory non-allocation lottery and they didn’t even know it was there until the factory sent them the update 2 days ago. Apparently I canceled my order the same day the dealership traded hands. So, the order got dumped from their system, but was never communicated to the factory. Crazy circumstance."

OP:

As many of you are quick to let me never forget, I once ordered a Jailbreak late last year and it went tits up. That's what led me to cross shopping everything from LC500s, to M4s, 911s, and ended up settling on a C8.

Today, as I'm just minding my business at work, I get a phone call from Tallahassee Dodge. The sales guy says, "Hey, you might remember me, I was your sales rep for that whole debacle with your Jailbreak." I told him I remembered. He then went on to explain that after I canceled that order, they refunded my deposit and through a cosmic set of missteps, they forgot to cancel my order. The general manager I was dealing with at the time has since left the company and apparently they neglected to physically cancel my order out of the system.

Well, the sales guy tells me that the car has been built and is in final inspection. If I would entertain taking delivery of it, they'll honor their original price (96.1k, the car has every single option you can get), and they expect the car to arrive sometime in the 1st or 2nd week of January as a 2022 model. This comes at a fortuitous time, since I am knee-deep in BS mechanical problems with the C8 right now. Engine has an oil leak and just had the trans replaced.

Long story short, I told them that if they honor the numbers AND they make me a decent deal on the C8 for trade, I'd likely take them up on the offer. So, we'll see what happens. FWIW, I've only put 900 miles on the 3LT C8 and it is on trans #2 and now has an engine issue. I'm not pleased with it, to say the least. Yes, the C8 is a more engaging car... it's faster in most respects, handles better, has better tech... but THE CAR WONT FRIGGIN WORK. Say what you will about the Hellcat, I never had any problems with either of mine. The JB I ordered still rubs me wrong, as it would have been a beautiful car. If it really is the same one I ordered, I might become a Mopar guy again.

Maybe?

And, while I had him on the phone, I asked about their Black Ghost and they have it listed at a 50k ADM, but they'd take 25k over for it, if anyone wants to pay that for a sticker.

It's strange sometimes how things work out!

Those are Great looking color choices! I like the stripes with the Brass Monkey colored wheels!

By the way, you can't really say that the C8 is more engaging if it's in the shop more than on the road. It sounds like the only thing that's engaging about it is it's relationship with the Dealership's mechanics (just kidding with you a little)! :D

I know of a few C8 Guys that have had problems with their transmissions too, so Please don't feel like yours is a lemon.

I never liked the C8 and now even the engine is not something that I am fond of. GM has completely lost their mojo. They look goofy, but looks aside now not even reliable. Come back to Mopar and stop futzing around with finicky GM crap.

Take the Hellcat. Different things for different people, but I had a 2021 C8 and although technologically advanced, I enjoy the brute force of the Cat so much more. I've come to the realization that I'm a muscle car guy, not a sports car guy. You have experience with both, choose the one that makes you happiest. They'll make more C8's, but the Dodge will be gone after '23.

No issues with the 2020 C8 Z51 we had for a year, and no issues with my current 2021 ZL1. Sometimes people just have bad luck. Plenty of Dodge issues too which we see here almost every day. I certainly tore my fair share of axle boots on my 2016 Challenger Hellcat.

Maybe? There’s a question here? Get the car. You know you want it.
The C8 is great for a certain crowd. I saw one at the latest cruise-in. An old, trying really hard guy, bless his heart, also in a Corvette hat, shirt, jacket, and belt. My son said I bet that dude is wearing corvette socks too. Sad. Maybe not that way in Florida but it’s damn sure that way up here. All look like their name is Biff, Poindexter, or Spencer.
YOU ordered that car. It’s fate. It’s following you like that quarter followed the old guy in “No Country for Old Men“ until Anton Chigurh flipped it to decide whether the old guy lived or died

Mouth Jaw Event Facial hair Flesh

Alright bad and scary example maybe but you know what I’m trying to say. Get the car.

As one of those that wont let you forget, I'm happy to hear this and if the offer is good on the C8 im sure you will be happy with this.

Plus, the car will come with a great story. You will be able to buy another c8 in the future, but not this jailbreak that you built.

Of course I want the car, but we have to remember that I'm talking about Tallahassee Dodge here... the dealership that took my money and lied about the allocation, then refunded me and forgot to cancel the order and now has a tricked out WBJB coming that is too much car for their market. In short, they're really incompetent I think. So, until I get verification that this car is actually alive somewhere, in its exact config that I ordered, I won't be holding my breath. There's a good chance it might be a triple nickle with black stripes or something that they think was mine, but wasn't.

But, I will say this. If this is actually the car that is getting shipped, then I'm more than likely going to pop on it. I'll eat it hard on the C8 whether I trade it or private sell it given the fact that the carfax will show 2 trans major repairs and whatever this oil dumping problem is I'm having. So, my private sale value is likely not going to be top dollar, even if the car has a transferrable 48k B2B warranty and a 100k extended powertrain on it. It's like they say about CarFax... it's either clean or it's not. Mine's not.

Well I'll be damed Xylander, I'm surprised to hear your considering coming back to the Hellcat world. The C8 is a great car and I've heard it's had its fair issues with the tranny but doesn't every car have its own issue...

I think GM just needs more time to work the kinks out of the C8. However Hellcats have been out long enough where Dodge has most likely corrected most of its own issues.

If you end up back in the Hellcat world then welcome back. 😉

Just hope you don't have issues with the JB, not having much good luck in the last year or so.
