I know ive came across someone talking about this happening on this forum but i can not find it anywhere anymore.

Awhile back was doing a couple rolling pulls with the hellcat would get close to 140mph and go to shift into 5th and would not go into gear.

Tried again double clutching and same problem. Able to shift into 5th if i waited but by then rpm and speed would dropping. Also able to skip 5th and shift to 6th just fine when doing a pull like this.

All gears work fine during normal driving and skip shift has been turned off.
Anyone else came across this problem or how to fix it?

What? Definitely read my post before i posted it. Did i write something wrong if so please explain.
He's saying he deleted his post because he commented before reading your full post.

As for your issue. I can only think of two things that can cause an issue but only one of those would only effect one gear.

Just sounds like synchro issues. Other thought was a clutch that was not fully disengaging but that would effect all gears. Have you checked your fluid?

Thanks for the clarification.
I thought that too, i did change fluids with no changes.
would the CDV be the possible problem? Or maybe a better fluid?

Is the CDV still in place? Some (most) report better shifting with it removed...
Yea still in place was thinking of pulling it out next was just seeing what others experienced. But shift throughout gears ifs fine only 5th has issues(i guess shifting isnt fine) 😂

also have a barton short throw if that is a possibility.

If it were a newer car, I’d say it is possible to miss 5th in a WOT acceleration by hitting the 3-5 separation. The 4-5 shift is the most difficult and can be very bad if you miss at 6k rpm. When I did Land Speed Trials I was very careful to go up, right, then up (no diagonal).

Just because the previous owner drove slow doesn’t mean he was good with a clutch or MT, particularly a set up like this that is very difficult to drive for even an experienced MT guy.

That is a good bunch of miles and it is possible that a lot of the components in the clutch system are worn, as well as possibly a synchro, but I would expect the 2nd or 3rd synchro to go well before 5th.

First thing I would do is also the cheapest thing: Try it again and make the shift in 3 steps, up, full right, then up again. Make sure it isn’t you before spending a lot of $!

Let us know how it all goes.

Hey Frosty, what are your thoughts?

BTW: I did not do anything to my CDV, I still don't understand how it makes it any better. Also I have the Barton, good item!

So the Barton has strong self centering springs. As a result, the 4th to 5th has been a bit of an effort for some users. In fact, they reported the missed 5th shifts too.
I have a stick, read every post re Barton, I don't have one (yet).
There is a spring delete mod that reduces the centering effort.
And I believe the Barton shift lever is shorter making effort higher also.

I was all set to do the CDV delete on my car the other day after installing a skip shift delete.
Then my inner forearm made contact with one of the catalytic converters.
After a deep inhaled breath of burnt flesh smell (+ choice words about how stupid I am) I decided to do the CDV another day.
So I don't have personal experience of before and after, but once again I have literally read EVERY post (+ on other forums) about how much better shifting is with it deleted.
It's a free mod worth a try...
