Okay I need to verify something here. The specs show the Hellcat A8 comes with 2.62 gears and the M6 comes with 3.7s. When I build my Challenger Hellcat on Dodge.com it shows my M6 with 2.62s. So what gears actually come with the M6?

My 2014 Core M6 had 3.92 gears in the rear. Snap your freakn neck. I'm pretty sure the 3.70's are to achieve the top end number.

Using a lower rear end gear in a boosted car is normal.

In a NA car like the 392 your using the mechanical advantage of using a steep gear ratio like a 3.92 to get up and go.

But for a boosted application like the Hellcat you don't need to use the rear gear as much. Your mechanical advantage now is the blower. With a lower rear end gear you keeping the car in boost longer.

Wonder if this was ever really fixed. Reason I ask is I went with a buddy and he test drove a 2018 WB HC M6 car and the window sheet says it has 2.62 gears. Is there any way to look at the rearend differential externally to find out exactly what ratio it has? He’s curious and so am I after reading this. It’s also a backseat delete car as well.

The most basic way is to jack up the back end so both tires are off the ground. Turn the rear wheels with the transmission in neutral, and count the turns versus one turn on the driveshaft. (Done it.)
You will find either a bit over two and a half turns, meaning it's the 2.62, or a bit over 3 turns, meaning it's the 3.09, or a bit over 3.5 turns, which means it's the 3.70.
Basic, yes, but has the level of accuracy you need to find out.

M6 stock rear gears are 3.70:1. The transmission gear ratios are different than the M6 392 car also.

Dodge window stickers have gotten the rear axle ratio wrong on cars for years. As said, all M6 Hellcats have a 3.70.

The transmission ratios are so high that a 2.62 would burn the clutch out in nothing flat so no way it has a 2.62.
