I have been drive my A8 in track mode the pat couple of outings and it is 5x better than I could've ever imagined. it is one hard hitting son of a gun.
I have not had a chance to try it again yet, but I will soon and post my results. I currently don't have a way to demonstrate it for posting. If I'm wrong, I'll admit it, no problem, but I am 99% positive that I have manually put it into second and floored it without it kicking down to first.
