I think one thing WE ALL can agree on is that choice is good. What if we could only get the auto? I do not think you will see manual trans, V8's or for that matter gas cars much longer ( in that order) . I see Tesla just received Consumer Reports highest score ever! http://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/28/a...p85d-consumer-reports-perfect-score.html?_r=0
so we all know what the next 20 years is going to bring.
I think the manual will be the 1st thing to go in America and is one reason why I wanted one. In 20 years a loud 707 Hp GAS V8 with a M6 or a A8 may be something VERY cool to have sitting in the garage and a manual will be very rare I bet..

Ok, we need to find a fourth for doubles tennis, or pinochle......
It's as timeless as Pepsi vs Coke (Pepsi all day long)
According to John Belushi, rest in peace, No Pepsi Coke

So that's the way you spell pionchle

Number 4 accounted for.
Perfect response.... These A8 guys act like the M6 is a slug or something... Car and Driver were the only ones to test both the A8 and M6... Their results? The M6 was 2 tenths slower, but ran THE SAME TRAP SPEED...

Like Ive said before, all these guys saying they bought the A8 because "its faster" , please post time slips of all your track days.. Because I can almost guarantee 9 of 10 NEVER see the track.

Id like to take a couple of these guys for a ride in my M6... 45mph in second gear, a little rev and dump the clutch with the drag radials on... Then have them tell me my car is "slow"...lol
Based on some old Direct Connection reports, trap speed is a function of power, and e.t. is a function of efficiently transmitting the power to the pavement...that is suspension, weight distribution, traction, and gearing. You can easily have .2-.5+ tents difference.
Remember, Vipers are only sold as manuals for a reason. It's a challenge and takes a skilled driver to tame it. What would've kowalski done folks? I respect the A8 and understand if someone has an ailment and has no option. But, I ordered the manual knowing it was a few tenth slower. If you hit the track often there's usually a 6spd shootout or if it's just t&t the manual guys will find each other and try to pair up. I've only done five 1/4 mile passes and rowed an 11.4. It has more in it, but it's up to me to get it out of this monster.
why does a z06 come in a A8?
why do Ferrari and Lamborghini come in automatics?

at some point you will be unable to compete with a manual and will get tired of A8's kicking your *ss.......Shelby now makes an automatic......and maybe the next gt500 will be an auto option too.....maybe a twin turbo 6 w/ an A9??

manual is fun....but is it worth being slower?
I like to shift and clutch, if I want an auto I will drive my pick up truck
I enjoy driving a stick, and that's enough reason, although there are many others... maintenance for one...

As for an auto, I hate the "push" of an auto as I come up to a stop, and that is enough to not get one, although there are many others as well. This is something that I have always hated with a passion. I can't even imagine how bad it would be in a car with this much power/tq...
P.S.

Well that time has NOT come for the Viper ACR. The 2016 Viper ACR holds more track records than any other production car in the WORLD! Did I mention all production Vipers are manuals? A Viper holds more records than the Z06, Ferrari, Porsche 918, Shelby etc... Look it up on Road and Track Viper ACR sets 13 track records. Even in this day and age a manual is very relevant and it takes more skill to master them.

As I stated before I respect the A8's and eventually cars like the Tesla's and IPhones on wheels will be the norm, but not for this guy. I've yet to get my *ss kicked by any street car.

I had my left knee repaired so no clutch for me I think I will buy a ACR Viper and have a A8 put in it o_OReally we all drive a awesome brand of cars buy what you like and drive the wheels off it!

The A8 downshifts when you slow down. No push to a stop. Very much like the DCT. It's nice FCA gave Challenger drivers a choice.

I think you're missing the point... No doubt the A8's are badass! There are members on here that get every ounce of power out of their A8's and should be very proud of there accomplishments. Then there's the other half... I guarantee it won't be yours going around me. Have you ever taken your A8 to the track, any video?
