Hi all.. New to this forum, Usually on First Gen Camaro forums but since retirement I bought a 2018 Daytona 392 W/24,000 mile. Car hadn’t been detailed by dealership yet. After driving and checking it out I noticed the matte black on hood Hemi decal, roof, and trunk lid all had a greyish spotting on it. Pointed it out twice to salesman and was told i would be taken care of once detailed. They gave me a WE OWE YOU form stating they would clean matte black finish.. So I bought the Dayton, Picked it up couple days later and spotting still there. Two weeks later they bought some Adams Detailer and still couldn’t get it cleaned up. Almost a year later after talking to wrap and detail shops I find that it’s best to remove the matte black and replace with satin or flat black vinyl which can be duplicated from the originals. I’ve got quotes from $1500 to $3000. Dealership tried to offer me $500. Talked to Mopar Corporate and was advised not to accept money from the Dealership and that original decals for 18 Daytona are $811.. Refered to a new local car wrap shop by dealership and they couldn’t and didn’t want to touch it. I’m a car guy, My cars are like my pets I take care of them. Has anyone had problems with oxidation/ water spots on matte black finish. I was told previous owner was a woman and she probably didn’t know that a protectant should’ve been used on matte finish. Any suggestions or ideas. Thanks

Not sure what to say but those diffidently look sun dried and not something that could be saved.

Kind of surprised a shop wont help out as the roof and trunk should be easy for them. The hood would be easy to if they were just installing pre-cut decals. If they have to make the decal that may be more challenging but still easy for a pro. Hardest part for your car would be getting the old decals off and the surface prepped for the new ones. That may be where the majority of the cost is coming from. I have to imagine those wont come off to clean so will take some effort to get the glue residue off.

Best of luck!

The shop recommended by dealership was a small tint shop new to doing wraps.. Didn’t like the idea of taking headliner/sunroof out

Not sure if they used this exact product from Adams but they sell a matte detailer spray. Collinite 845 insulator wax seems to remove water spots from what i’ve read. This thread gives 2 other options as well:
