Is this the same event as the Rod Run? I went to a few back in the mid 80s. LOTS of cars.
No, this is a completely separate event that has been run for years. It had been done every couple years, but they are now doing it annually with the increase in popularity. It had been a max of 250 cars and this year they increased that to 350 cars and still turned people away. It's a very laid back meet, more like a family get together than anything else. Great cars, people and events.

I went for the first time. Haven't been to Pigeon Forge area in 20 years. The place has turned into a zoo. Non stop tourist crap. From Sevierville all the way to Gatlinburg. I won't return to the area.
The ride on the Tail of the Dragon was a blast.
One other thing. I drove down to Alabama to see the Barber Motorsports museum. The "worlds largest" motorcycle museum. That my friends is a must see attraction for any motorhead, motorcycle enthusiast or history buff. Worth the drive.

I went to Barber in 2010 for the Superbike races. I am surprised you don’t hear more about that museum like you do Petersen’s out in California, for example. It is quite impressive, for sure.

Also agree with your comments about Gatlinburg!

I agree with you about the area but you go to be part of the MOPAR atmosphere, meeting other like minded people and seeing cool cars. The wife and i made lasting friendships there last year and this year. We will be back next year as well.
