Does anyone know what the differences are in the Dodge Challenger Hellcat specifications (2016 MY in particular) between cars destined for USA and Mexico. I'm after information on safety, crash, emissions differences mainly, or confirmation there are no differences

Reason being, is that this information is missing from the import documents that must be provided to our transport authorities for registering the car for use on New Zealand roads. The VIN number tells me the Hellcat was sold new in Mexico

I would much prefer to see this pristine car (only 2500 miles from new) being driven, rather than being relegated to dismantling or being shipped off-shore to a country that has less demanding (better described as stupid) regulations

TIA for any help the Hellcat community can provide

I don't see FCA building them any different for different countries other than the KM vs MPH dash and maybe some different lighting requirements. purely speculation but I don't think it would make sense to make major changes

I have the same thoughts, and next to my 2015 Hellcat it looks identical. But this is not enough to convince our local transport authorities. I need to confirm safety, crash, emissions differences, or confirm there are no differences. They need to know standards that are met for each of the above categories, so they can determine if they meet New Zealand rules

Very frustrating that I have an identical Hellcat MY 2015 that is perfectly OK to drive on our roads. But this was sold new in USA and that makes the difference (apparently)

What is the VIN of the vehicle in question?

Yeah, I thought that the US had the toughest import regs on cars. So you're thinking about buying one destined for Mexico, then bringing it back to the US? Have you read the stories here about people trying to bring one in from Canada?

No, this is not the situation.

I live in New Zealand. The Hellcat was imported into NZ in 2017. But it was unable to pass our transport dept checks as the safety, crash and emissions specifications were unknown.I bought it 2 weeks ago as a "track or parts car". If I can provide the missing info, the car can be registered and used on our roads.

The car is in as-new condition, seems well optioned, and only travelled 2500 miles, so it deserves better than being dismantled

It appears that the Mexican extras - sombrero, a bottle of Jose Quervo, and worms of various sizes are no longer with the car. Perhaps the sombrero wasn't included as it has no sunroof??

Here's your equipment listing. Don't know if it will have the information you're looking for, but it's a start.
Of course, you can contact Dodge customer service:

Thanks for that

I had already run a build list. I also tried to run a Window card but got nothing, presumably because it was sold in Mexico

The contact details for Dodge is really helpful (I hope). I'll send an email in the next week or two

The 2016 (auto) built list has "active exhaust", but my 2015 (manual) doesn't. What is active exhaust?

Thanks again
