Having run both I would agree with DevilsReject97. The Nittos give a little better grip but I got only 3500 miles out of a pair. Mostly street driving with a few burnouts, hard launches.
I only have about 1000 miles on the 4s but grip is real close and they still look like new. I expect them to last alot longer, I mean alot longer.
Just my .02 but the slight difference in grip on the Nittos is not worth the extra mileage on the 4s.
With that said, if all you do is street/track race stay with a DR. If you are putting on more street miles you can't beat the 4s.

My T/A 392 put 19k miles on a set of PS4S Summer tires. And, it got driven well. My Hellcat has 7,000mi on 275/40/20 PS4S All Seasons. They still read 11/32nds... so literally, no wear yet at all.

As far as grip, I've held 0.94G around a large roundabout here in a barren neighborhood under construction with the PS4S all seasons. The summer compound would be better, but they will wear out a lot faster. I have a 30k mile treadwear warranty :):

I can safely make this comparison, as I've gone from PS4S 315/35/20 to 555 RII 315/35/20 on a standard body Cat with a few suspension upgrades.

The Michelin tire is obviously a harder tire, so you'll feel more of the road. And it's superior in corner handling.

With the 555 RII it's superior in outright grip. Even when both tires are cold, the 555RII just grips harder in a straight line.
It's also not scary at all in the rain as some have mentioned, and believe me, in Miami we get a lot of rain; just use common sense and don't speed in the rain.

I've had the 555RIIs on the Cat since January, and they've lost a little bit of grip.
That was due to repeated runs on a private track rental, with no cool down in between runs.
The only time I've felt sketchy with the DRs is at top speeds of over 150. In cornering, they're not too bad, however the rear of the Cat feels separated from the front since the rears are way softer.

So the traction from the ps4s is not that far off from the 555r2s?

If the ps4s is close in traction to the 555R2 then it seems like the ps4s would be the way to go as the slight difference in little more grip from the 555r2s don't seem worth it for the little mileage you got out of them.

I understand there two different tires to begin with but Varooom mentioned the two tires are close in grip and mentioned the Nittos are just only slightly better grip wise than the ps4s.

If that's the case the ps4s would be the better way to go as an all around tire for the street or even it's competitor ( the Continnental extreme contact sport) if the traction is only slightly less better as compared to the Nittos in my opinion.

If the Nittos were way better in traction on the street then I would understand but to only hear they are slightly better than the ps4s doesn't seem worth it.

How does the Nitto nt05r compare to the PS4S and the Conti? Again, I realize they are more task specific.

Found the limit of adhesion of a set of 345/30’s this afternoon. WOT somewhere north of 80-90 mph and around a corner. Great tire, very predictable, easy to let off, and get back on it. Wonderful tires! Did it with Redeye Power, full AAD suspension setup, Cup 2 fronts which had more grip to be fair, and other cradle/bushing work.

Someone who knows here.. Charger got 295 ps4 rears and challenger Redeye has 315 Nitto 555R2. In terms of traction the R2 get significantly better traction compared to the ps4s from a dig. The ps4s are more fun to mess around with.. the R2s once warmed it’s pretty hard to do a burnout unless you brake stand or just floor it while it 1st gear. Straight line performance definitely R2. The R2 do ok in the wet but ps4s are way better wet traction is actually very good on the ps4s

Also If you want the ps4s good luck finding them in stock. I ordered 305 ps4s back in April for the fronts of Redeye haven’t got them yet.. the Nitto R2s came right away

Yep, 4S’s on the rear. It makes a great street all around Hellcat tire. I may have liked the way it acted yesterday. I have been thinking of changing the race set to 4S. Now maybe just the rears. The combo of more front grip by big Cup 2’s vs. giving some away in the rear, cut its usual understeer behavior.

I'd just like to take the time to point out that you guys are comparing a drag radial to a street tire... that sort of tells you all just how great the 4S is.

It's not as good as a drag radial, but really, you're going to get 12k+ out of the summer tire (closer to 20k) and it can be driven all the time with little to no regard for climate (all season anyway). The summers are good to around 50F. After that, just put ice skates on the car.
