I just recently bought my hellcat (first muscle car ever) it’s probably important to note it is not a widebody. But I am unsatisfied with the way the stock P’s catch. Admittedly, I don’t know much about tires since i’ve never really had to worry about it until now but I am trying to learn now. I’ve been doing some reading and was looking at the mickey thompson ET S/S or NITTO NT555R. Would a 305/35R/20 fit on stock OEM? I haven’t done anything to the car wheel wise and this is the next step I’d like to take. If not, what’s the best optimal size without having to swap rims? Also, is it possible to keep the 2 P’s upfront on at the same time with that size?

If you’re looking for pure dry traction and the car isn’t really a daily, then the MT ET S/S are really good gripping tires and a little better than the Nittos traction wise, (had both). If the car is a daily or driven often and gets caught in the rain here and there then the Nitto 555r’s are your better bet for being well rounded in handling the wet and still have really good traction especially over the stock Pirelli tires and lasting longer than the MT’s. If your leaning towards the Nitto’s then go for the Nitto 555 (R2’s) instead of the original 555 (R’s)

There have been some who have fit a 305/35/20 on the stock 20x9.5 wheel but not really recommended as you will only get so much contact patch and would be a waste. If you wanted a 305/35/20 size tire, you could always get some aftermarket 20 x 10.5 replica wheels to accommodate that tire size.

Best optimal tire size without having to swap rims would be to stick with the stock 275/40/20 tire size on that wheel.

Yes you can still keep the stock Pirelli tires up front along with putting either drag radial in the rear and will be fine. Many have done that setup no issues.

DONT buy the MTs if you are going to street drive on them. They are notoriously hard if not impossible to balance. Get the NITTOs for street daily driving. If you want something that you can put on at home and drive to the track, then take off when you get home, or put on at the track and take off before you go home, get the MTs. They are the superior tire for grip.

I ran the MT ET Street SS 305/45/17 on a racestar on my 21 HC Charger WB. It was AWESOME on the street for traction, but as I said even balanced they were like driving on unbalanced tires. They vibrated like CRAZY. Super annoying.

At the track I would stab it with no burnout and hook and they worked great.

Anyone ever try a 305/45-20 Mickey SS on a stock widebody rear wheel? Wondering if the added sidewall would help some with grip and fill the wheel well nice. The tire contact patch isn't quite as wide as the 305/35-20 though.

Yeah my tuner runs them on his shop charger HC WB. They look meaty and hook awesome. I'd do those in a second on the stock wheels.

Not as wide but big sticky patch nonetheless. Tall tire. 262 gear prolly wouldn’t like it

Yeah, I do have the stock 2.62 rear, so maybe the 305/35 would suffice a bit better for me? That meaty look on that Charger above with the 305/45 does look good though with that wheel well spacing almost none existent.

Either one is gonna be way better than what you have now. Car will drive way different w a 30 vs a 26. Have you checked availability on them?
I haven't, no. I'm currently on a 325/30 R888R rear tire and it has left a bit too much wheel well gap on the rear for my liking, so the Mickey was going to be my next try.

Sorry, don't mean to thread jack the OP. The topic was just perfect for me to ask my questions in without making a new thread on pretty much the same thing. LOL

this is totally off topic but figured i’d ask. so i got my car back in may, it only had 9k miles on it. it’s now at 11k. i daily drive it but i’ve never taken it out of my city, and i don’t drive it very far when i do drive each day. but this weekend i took a 3 hour road trip and it was like a 200 mile trip and on the interstate it was really secluded so i was doing big pulls over and over the whole time up there. that was the most i’ve been able to really step on it since i got it, and then i did the same on the drive back a few days later. but now the car feels different, it feels much more snappy when i drive and it seems to pick up faster and be way more responsive now. there is definitely a difference in how it felt from before and after and i’m actually happier with it now. any reason on why this happened? or maybe i’m hallucinating but it definitely feels much more alive.

I'd never run a 26" tire on a hellcat. Aren't the stock tires a little over 29"? Maybe if a car were lowered the 26" would look okay, idk.

Like said above, SS tire for the track and you can drive them on the street but they will wear very quickly. I've run them on three difference cars, but I tend not to street drive my cars much. It's a great tire, if you have to drive to and from the track, but if that's not the main use, I'd go with a different tire.

Stock tires are 28.7" or close to that I believe.
