I was wondering if anyone knows about pricing on extended warranties? I don't usually buy them because I don't keep my vehicles forever. On the Hellcat I'm going to look into it. I know in most states you can buy these from any dealer, even out of state. When I go to take delivery I'm sure the finance guy will be pushing this, so beforehand would like to know what would be a fair price. Anybody have a particular place they buy these from, or places to avoid?

Thanks for sending the post. That is what I was going to do. I haven't talked to my dealer yet, but I told them I wanted info when I got there to pick up!

Use your own judgment, but honestly, "most" extended warranties don't cover what you'll need them to, and are usually more expensive over the long run than the cost of any repairs you might need to make.
If it's more for "peace of mind", open a savings account for any possible "emergencies" you might need to pay for.

Good info. I wanted to get details. I am a little worried about this high performance engine and not having coverage if I start having problems. I will definitely weigh the cost to benefit before making a final decision.

The best "insurance" is following the recommended maintenance schedule, and have any problems checked out as soon as they arise.

Most definitely. That is why I have such a good relationship with my service manager, he knows I can tell whn there is an issue and I am on top of it ASAP! I agree that the better I maintain the longer it will last with minimal issues!

Thanks all. Like Tammie, my main concern is the brand new engine. Well, that and the electronics. Then again, you would think any major problems should start showing up during the original warranty period. Have to think on this some more I guess.

I usually don't buy them but I have in the past if it can be bought cheap enough. When I bought my 2010 Camaro they tried to sell me their best plan for over 2000.00. When I turned it down a little later on they asked if I said no because of the price. I said yes of course, that's when they offered me the same plan for 50.00 over their cost which was 850.00 so I took that deal. They were looking at it as they were still making 50 bucks and they would get the warranty work.

I did some checking around today on my lunch break and found a way to buy Mopar's lifetime plan for $2800-something. Not sure if I'll do it, but now at least I have an idea on pricing. Also, it's trasferable for a $50 fee, so should help some with resale assuming I ever wanted to do that.

'DodgeCares' on CT stated that the Hellcat Challenger and Charger will not be eligible for the lifetime plan.

"Dodge Hellcat Charger and Challenger have been assigned to Specialty Class II status under Mopar Vehicle Protection plan. However, these models will not be eligible for any of the our Lifetime major plans."

My car won't be resold and once out of warranty Its time to turn wrenches on it. ( bump up that HP)

With the name change the Chysler warranties are still legit right? What site should I purchase from that is legit?

That is my understanding. I went with the manufacturers extended warranty just to be sure it was legit.

Any problems with the Hellcat are sure to be expensive. .Parts for the motor/supercharger alone will be high. If you get the zero deductible 7/70 or something similar it would be worth it for piece of mind. Plus in my experience with a 2006 SRT 10 quad cab I think the dealership gave me better service and took better care of my truck because they knew that Dodge would pay.Try to find/pay for a left front brake caliper on a Viper truck yourself. .I am really glad it was THERE problem not mine.That is one of the real benefits of a extended warranty on a rare expensive vehicle. I was really glad that I had the zero deductible with a rental car coverage as I think it saved me from being overcharged. .

With $ 1400 rims and $ 500 tires, my road hazard for $ 290 seems like a great price. Yes, you need to buy the other coverage to get it, but $ 1755
for both works for me.

doesn't the road hazard apply to any tires on the car i.e. next set you might buy from tirerack, etc? didn't realize it covered the rims as well. in that case might be better than a tire places warranty.

Plans range from 1 to 7 years which can be purchased at any time...
