Well today was the day I brought my new Hellcat home from the dealership. Finally nice enough out to get it from dealer to my garage at home. But, not before putting 60 miles on it.

I have to say, I have never felt this way about a car before and I've owned some great cars. Porsche, MB, GT-R to name a few. All performance models also. But there is something different about this car. Just pure brute strength dying to get you to drag it out from under the hood.

It's truly an intoxicating feeling I get behind the wheel. Like falling in love for the first time with a wonderful woman. It consumes your mind and is all you can think about.

The number one issue I have is, how can anyone break this car in as recommended??? The level of willpower it would take to stay within the suggested levels is way beyond my abilities of self control....

Spot on Burghy! Same here! Owned some fun cars, but this one is way different! I only have 42 miles on mine, and can't drive it until probably May! I have no idea how to keep it under wraps through the break in! Just taking it to get gas was like holding back a racehorse on the way to the starting gate! Have fun! Jim

It might be a bit early with break in etc..., but could you compare the HC to your GT-R....
you probably can. before the HC i was dead set on a GTR and i have always been a mopar fan. as i saw GTR prices go up with no real changes and i saw the HC and i went for it. since i had the hellcat i actually went into a nissan dealership to get a used car my wife wanted and they had a gtr on the floor room. they were soooo much more impressed with my car then theirs. it was funny, he let me climb in pop the hood etc. i just couldn't start it as apparently that is monitored by H.Q,. ;-)now i feel like the gtr is just another cheap import.

The only appropriate way to "break it in" is mashing the skinny to the floor leaving the lot.

This 500 mile crap is nonsense.

Comparing my gtr to the cat is like comparing a f18 to an A10 warthog. Totally different animals that go about their business in a totally different way. One is refined and one is raw. Since I'm used to the refined I think I prefer the raw.

So with this break in period, what do you guys think about my idea to drive the car from Ohio to CA where I live? Good idea or ship it? I was thinking it would be fun to pick up the car with my 15 year old son who has oil for blood like me and is dying to get his paws on it....The only thing he will be driving, is a 2009 subj outback....I figure that is safe enough for a new driver....Not that my insurance company is going to give me a break;)

That leads to another idea. Have never been on route 66...I just assumed I would take 80 all the way, but I am open to suggestions. What's your thoughts on the southern route LForst?
