Yesterday was time to do my first service. I clicked over a 1000 miles and the sun was shining, so it was time before the snow starts flying and the salt is spread on the roads.
My first observation was that the dealer installed those brake air ducts when prepping the car. Good, right ?
Except I could see they removed the belly pan and used the new mechanic ( Magilla Gorilla ) to tighten those little bolts holding the belly tray on. Then I noticed some small "drippings" coming though the hole below the oil filter. I assumed it was leaking a little and old Magilla Gorilla must have tightened the filter. It took me 30 minutes and 2 different filter wrenches before I got the mangled filter off. The O ring gasket was stuck tight to the filter base. ( Yes, it was the factory original. )
Then I moved to the rear. I had a noise previously and found a bracket missing it's bolt holding it to the vehicle. A dangling bracket that was rattling against the rear muffler / resonator. This time I wanted to inspect the other side. That bolt was finger tight and about ready to fall out. Glad I checked, then I proceeded to tighten all the bolts in that area.
Somebody on the Brampton assembly line was a little lax that day.
Great car that has a dual personality.
I think I'll keep it for a while
