I had reported previously my supercharger belt had some gouges in it and frayed particles on the supercharger and engine. The dealer ordered a new one and replaced it. Since my original post, a few people have reported similar gouges and had theirs replaced too. I did notice the belt was a little weaker where the gouges were and I did not want to risk any issues. Dodge was great about replacing it and acting promptly.
Here is a picture of the old belt and new.

Auto part Tire Engine Fictional character Automotive tire

You can see a couple marks on the new belt but they are not gouges. The ones above are gouges and weakened the belt.

Awwww! Thanks NYC. Nope, I just needed to clear some things up with processes and make sure I felt like I was a fair and decent Moderator before I continued to take on the role. I am hoping DrB will return soon. He is working on some cool stuff!:)

Tammie,

Glad you got that taken care of before it had the chance to become a problem. Did the Techs venture a guess as to what caused the gouging on the belt?

April
No, and Doc had the same issues with his and he was not able to pinpoint it either. I figure if he can't see a cause then my techs don't have a snowballs chance in He**! LOL:)

Tammie,

Hellcat Belt Wesen! They are little gremlins that come out at night and gnaw at Hellcat belts. You are up in the neck of the woods where Grimm is filmed!

Right? I'm going to have to stay up in the garage in my car waiting to see what kind of creatures try to attack my baby when I'm sleeping! I catch those lil buggers!:D

What worries me about that is that the belts are rarely bad (it's possible but unusual). I'd be more concerned that there is an alignment issue somewhere in the pulley system, or a bearing etc.

If the new belt goes bad you then they haven't gotten to the root cause of the issue for sure. I'd keep a close eye on that belt every time you check the oil.

I check the engine daily. I'm kinda weirdo_O. Just to make sure water, oil and all parts look good. :) Not one mark on it so far.

Marks on the outside don't fly with me either. Tensioner or something else??? Belt shouldn't be hitting ANYTHING. I'd be concerned if that was my car. I'd be watching that new belt like a hawk.

Not a tensioner as marks go off at a 45 degree angle. Outside influence is my bet. Tammie did you notice these marks new or never looked until later?

On the bad belt thing a ding, for piece of mind go into parts dep. and order a "back up" belt. $ Put in your trunk just in case. Back in the day we used to have 2 back up belts 8:71 Don Hampton on street.

Are those cat scratches? And isn't that expected on that belt?

My Hellcat just got to the dealer with the same belt gouges. The dealer ordered a new belt to be put in before I take delivery. They mentioned it may have been a clip or clamp. I'll ask for particulars next discussion. All I wanted to know now was how soon can you fix it?
