Here is an old picture of my Firebird Trans Am from 1974 (455SD), notice how it looks like my Hellcat. Both Red and Black wheels, yes I had gloss black wheels on it back then had the factory wheels cut and added 2 inches. ...........Click on Scan0001 to open picture

WOW, I had a dark blue 74 SD, I loved that car, even threw studded snows on it and drove it every where,LOL
I was only 5 when that car was built. But, I still remember them fondly. I used to see all kinds of awesome muscle while walking to school. Truthfully, those experiences somehow permeated my brain and is the reason I lusted after my Hellcat...

Miss seeing these trans Am. Thanks for sharing
Very nice SD, do you still have it? I currently still own my 79 10th Anniversary Trans Am matching numbers 400/ 4spd.but it's been sitting for nearly a decade. Looking to fully restore it within the next few years.
Those were cool. I had a '75 with the emissions 400 ci and about a 2.70 rear end. It would take all day but we got it to 150 a few times. Then ordered a '78 gold one without the yard bird on the hood. That was the last car I ordered before I ordered a HC, took just as long! Little known fact was to take a set of pre-emission heads off a 389 or 400 bolt them on a T/A 400 and magically we restored about 10.5:1 compression and after a mid rise, Holley, headers all into the stock exhaust you had a wonderful sleeper! I think I had to do one minor grind around the A/C bracket and manually adjust the valves, that was it. Had to beef up the clutch, but the four speed and the rest of it held up to some real abuse. Oh burnt a set of studded snows in one season with it too. There were some new slits in the roads around Des Moines where I grew up.
I bought a used one 74 in the 90s that I had to put a timing chain on, it was silver and purple, it was called the wild thing
Almost looks Hemi Orange. Must be the old polaroid.
Cerino2000, Did you post something about a hellcat running 9.70, if so, did you want to start a thread here
