What's up guys!

If your like me and running 305s on your narrow body Cars. I'm sure you've noticed the appearance of new rock chips. I'm talking about not just the o es down low but up high on the fenders too. I'm already running the ZL1 add-ons front and rear. They work great but I'm sure, if your running that tire. You know that they stick out past the top of the fender as well as the rest all the way around. That means, rocks are able to get tossed up the side of your car. Along with melted rubber or anything else.

So, I emailed zl1 about it and pitched them an idea to create a solution. I don't know how serious they are but they sounded interested. Especially after I explained that a lot of Mopars run that tire size for racing and looks. I'm thinking, if yall emailed them and expressed your interest in the idea and would want such protection. It might help some.

Here's the email I used. [email protected]

Pass the word around if you think I'm right. If not and I'm full of crap. Oh well lol

There’s other brands that make wider rock guards like Swaims I think. And ZL1 Addons has side skirts you can add too. I know they make them for Wide bodies. I’m not 100% if they’re available for narrow bodies though.
‘My driver side rear rock guard large and small clips won’t even fit. It’s like the clips aren’t thin enough. Actually I can’t even fit my finger nail in between the fender and wheel well (I think) where the clips go. Wtf.

Rokblokz make them too. The ZL1 rock guards aren’t wide enough. Idk. But I’m sure the side skirts would make a big difference

Yeah, widebody mopars don't have the problem near as bad as narrow body Cars running the extra width. I don't use the clips ZL1 sends. I used double sided body tape to mount mine and they work pretty well. Just needs a bit more that reached up high on the fender. So I'm talking to them about a set of extensions that could be used with their current ones that go up almost 3/4 of the way around the fender and stick out about 1/2" to "3/4" to stop the debris from the tire from being slung up the cars

305s (on a 10.5) shouldnt poke out at the top. I have a strip/street racing alignment and its flush, if I had a normal street alignment the camber would be inward. Check your alignment. (I too have only Mopar splash guards, no chips.)

Actually widebody cars experience rock chips with the stock wheels and tires.

Is that from the tires? The body is suspectable to damage from other cars throwing off rocks & debris, wouldn't the WB covering the wheels keep that from spraying the side? I would think most damage is coming from your own wheels throwing off stuff.

Your car is slicing through the air, any debris gets propelled back and away from the tires, the vacuum created by the vehicle forces the air back into the car so, my theory, is the cupping of the WB over the wheels will negate most of the expelled matter. even if tires are flush it will throw more junk on your back panels. The OEM "mud flaps" are fairly small and don't really protect the upper panel and bigger ones would be like a paddle placed perpendicular to air, they may create a lot of drag (no biggie on DD but if you want to track?)

Why narrower in the front?
It's a old idea that still works. You see it on drag cars and some track cars. The idea is that there is less weight and resistance from the road on the front where less is needed. The back is where the width and traction are needed.

I admit, I do it mostly for the look and less for racing. When I go to the strip, I have a set of skinnies I put on the front. They really don't change a lot on the street running a 265 vs 305 on the front. The front 305s made the car turn stiff and the power steering did have to work a bit harder but was it faster or slower.....not a lot. Probably needed a few passes with both to see a difference.

Little Devils? WB Conversion, reason why I don't like the wheels sticking out, throws too much crap on your fenders. After market splash guards/ mud flaps also.
Yeah....I'm probably going to order the Direct connection kit. I know there are cheaper kits out there but....Mopar. I just was trying to avoid tmore damage until I do it. It's such a pretty car.....
