The new consumer reports auto edition April 2015 is out. They rated the Challenger...base model... average on reliability, but very high in owner satisfaction. Dodge was ranked 25th best out of 28 car brands listed. I don't always agree with their assessments....just putting it out there...FYI

Well I had the pleasure of driving a new Avenger when my Charger had to spend the night and I can see that rating as accurate.

I've never put much faith in what Consumer Reports publishes. I have a few friends and relatives that accept CR as "gospel truth" but I view them as a bunch of lemmings. I think it's hilarious when they are forced to admit a few months after purchase that "maybe CS was wrong this time". Sadly, they get right back in line and jump off the cliff again.

I traveled 75% for my job during the last 30 years. I have rented many, many different brands of cars during that time, mostly middle to lower end cars of the brands. I have found that when comparing lower end to lower end, etc.,I enjoyed the comfortable and fun of driving of the domestic brands to that of the foreign brands hands down. All brands make a lot of money from manufacture of repair parts and service departments for a reason.

Ok, I am ready for the bashing to start! My work truck and my wife's car are both foreign. We had domestic cars for daily drivers and we just were not happy (yes both were Dodges)

I would rather die before putting up with a boring life behind the wheel of a Toyota or Honda.

They can shove their MPG's up their a** sideways, I'll take the blown Hemi 10 times out of 10!!

ive had a few Toyota's ....last one wasnt reliable or good at all....cheap interiors, blah exteriors.......i agree its a boring life to own a top reliable brand.....Honda's seem to have a flaw with their speedo's...they seem to always drive 5mph under the limit...kinda like Toyota's prius drivers......Honda's designs are so plain jane i dont know how they sell cars.....but then there's lots of dull people who consider a car as just something to get them from point a to point b.........i looked into a Honda minivan once....it was more expensive and more out of date than any of the others brand names......Dodge may be a B grade company, but design wise i do think they have some of the nicer looking cars out there........i just bought my GMC truck last week...if Dodge were a better grade company i would have considered a 300 or a RAM......the RAM Rebel would have been right up my alley.....i just cant see buying a low grade car for my family car(daily use).....for a weekend driver my HC is perfect....if it breaks oh well.....if my family car breaks its a major inconvenience since we only have 1 family car

Has nothing really to do with mpg for us. It has to do with reliability.

Last domestic car my wife will ever had was a Stratus. It seemed like it was at the dealer more than on the road. I can't have that!

For a "toy" car I have no issue with domestic...when it breaks down it is no big deal..not an everyday driver

I give it to suburu. Their cars are ugly as sin but their fanbase is as loyal as they come. They are reliable and i like that they give back to charity.

Reliability was the only reason I hesitated to buy this car. The last dodge/Chrysler I had was 30 years ago and reliability sucked. I have never owned another nor wanted one until now.

But, this is a once in a lifetime car so I figured I would give it a try. Some of the issues I have heard stated on this forum do concern me. I hope this purchase does not disappoint on the reliability side. I'm absolutely sure it will be fun to drive but won't be fun being in the shop all the time. My last dodge was in the shop three times within the first two weeks I owned it. Only lasted about 65000 miles and had to go. I will say it was a 1985 model year which wasn't the heyday for cars in general.

I know there are a lot of loyal lifetime Mopar fans. I am not at this time but it's never too late to start I suppose. No haters please... Just being honest.

I have personally owned 37 Chrysler vehicles (purchased new) starting with a 1978 Black Córdoba T-Top (400 cid with fine, light gray Corinthian leather) to my most recent purchase, the Hellcat. Other than gas, oil, brakes and other routine maintenance, I've never experienced the reliability issues I hear other people complain about. You should know, that like most people here, I've worked very hard to acquire my toys and am very picky about getting my money's worth. I've owend all Chrysler lines with the exception of the Eagle. My oldest car is my 2001 Yellow Viper GTS (hence my handle). I don't baby my cars, I drive them to max or near max potential. After that many purchases, one would think that my luck had "run out", but in fact, my experience is just the opposite. For the record, (I've posted this before), the worst car I've ever owned is my 2014 Cayman S. It was in service for a total of 36 days in my first year of ownership for various electrical and mechanical issues.
