Good morning. Older driver. Bought the 2018 Charger SRT 392 new in August of that year. The best performance car I have ever owned. Three years in and only one warranty trip to fix a little paint problem on the underside of the corner of the trunk lid. Prior car, a lesser brand, lived at the dealer for warranty stuff. Sad.
Discovered the Dodge during spring and summer of '18 while out looking for a real domestic performance car. Mustang and Camaro both had marks against them in my opinion. But I never even gave Dodge a thought until we rented one on a trip, a 5.7L Hemi. After about ten miles my wife said, "You should buy one of these". Smart, she is.
I did a ton of study, and what did I discover? Bilstein shocks at all four corners. Suspension: Mercedes E-class with upgrades. Excellent responsive handling; the car feels far lighter than 4400 lbs. Brembos at all four wheels with fabulous stopping power, 6 pistons and two piece rotors up front. Aluminum hood. Not a single fake air scoop. Super comfortable seating with adjustable lumbar supports for both driver and passenger. Flat cornering with almost no dive on hard stops.
Super quiet while cruising with seamless switch to four cylinders under light load (26 mpg highway). Battery in the back. Cooling ducts to just inside the front wheels. Fabulous sound when the exhaust opens up. Huge touch screen. Great price at a dealer just outside of DC.
My one worry is the valve lifters at around 120K miles. Seems strange to me that the needle bearings in the roller lifters would be failing. At any event I am running Amsoil Signature Synthetic oil to get best wear protection for those lifters.
And I have a CurbAlert installed because the underside of the front bumper is so very low. Also put on an Oil Catch Can to keep as much as possible of the crankcase vented oil out of the intake system. Even with port injection that stuff can form crusty deposits on the upstream side of the intake valves and that's evil, IMHO.
Going, stopping, cornering . . . Been great. Still great. Hope you all are enjoying your Mopars. Big thanks to the forum guys who've already answered some brake questions for me.
