Both red keys were missing when I finished my sign and drive at the dealer. Salesman has ordered them overnighted and promised a free tank of gas for the inconvenience.
If you do not get the keys re-coded at A DIFFERENT DEALER, count on your car being stolen.
I marvel at how blithe people are. Supposing you had a daughter. Would you think it was just a coincidence that the same van followed her home from school every day for a week, as long as the van was owned by some car dealership?
Have you all not read about the guy on this forum who had his car stolen while AT a dealership being serviced?
My car was parked in an inaccessible, behind-security-guard secure parking (but visible from the street) when I found both doors unlocked and the trunk popped. I do not park it there anymore.
But to get a car straight from a dealer who claims the keys were "lost?" I would not deal with that dealer again, and also do some research on a GPS tracker that randomly sends a position report every five minutes or so (so it cannot be found by using a scanner and turning the car on and off.)
