Those who had both the NTO5R and NT 555R2, which one puts the power down better on the street?

Anyone had both and can compare?

Which of these tires have you gotten the most average life out of?

Which handles the wet better when you so happen to get caught in the rain?

Most importantly which of these Nittos has better traction?

I havent run both but can tell you the 555 is the better all around, dry traction, wet traction and grip. Better treadwear too 100 vs 000.The 05 you can forget about any wet traction. Also you're limited in sizes with the 05. NT555RII | Nitto Tire

Something was telling me the R2 was gunna be the better well rounded tire but I already have the R2 in a 305/35/20 on 20x10.5 reps and was looking to try a 315/35/20 NTO5R if they were better or maybe just get another set of R2‘s after these are done depending on the feedback I get here between the two.

Are the NTO5R's that bad in the rain? I've driven my R2‘s in the rain plenty and they held up just fine as if it wasn't a drag radial. I was gunna assume the NTO5RS would be similar but hopefully a little sticker. Have you heard from others that mentioned the NTO5RS weren't good in the rain?

Its been my experience driving in the rain with the NT05R is fine as long as you’re responsible. I have 315’s on the rear of my Challenger. Big improvement over the Pirelli A/S junk.

For those of you that run the 555, are you gunna get better traction compared to the Michelin PS4S? I live in WI, so am I gunna have to take them off sooner when it gets cold?

Thank you for sharing that. I'm assuming you have driven them in the rain at street and highway speed limits just fine?

I have the R2‘s in a 305-35-20 on 20x10.5 reps and they stick out a little on my narrow body HC. I duno if you have a narrow body as well but do the 315s stick out a little too far and look funny?

Narrow bodied M6 with PK HR5’s 11 inches wide on the rear. You will have to imagine the wheel poke w/o the Phillips flares. I never found the poke to be a problem.

I had to do the mild wheel well mod by removing the push pins and drilling a new hole something like 3/4 inch, reinsert pins, good to go. Simple.

555R2’s tolerate a cooler road better then the NT05R, I’ve ran mid 11’s at 35F with the 555’s. I run both the NT05R and the 555R2 in a 315 size on my narrow body 16 Challenger on a +25 offset rim, no rub no spacers, their just about flush with top of the wheel well.

Thanks for sharing your input. Have you tested them both on warm roads? If so which tire hooks better?

Which is better in the rain?

Do you also happen to have any pics of the 315 NTO5R at the angle of where it would stick from the wheel well? Thanks

Here is the 315 Nitto on a 10.5” 25mm offset replica on the drivers side rim verse the stock 275 on a stock rim on the passenger side

I’ve ran both warm and cold roads. The NT05R likes hot roads, not good in the cold or the wet. the 555R2 likes warm and is ok on cold roads, better in the wet but I wouldn’t go over 55 with them even when new on a straight highway let alone cornering. Neither are a road course tire.
