When changing oil on a 6.2 liter (717hp)is it required to drain the oil cooler if so is it still 7 qrts?my 17 SP also required 7qts and as we know there is no oil cooler
I wouldn't say it's inaccessible. If me, a service disabled guy can do it himself with no problem whatsoever... If a shop has a problem accessing the oil cooler you need to stop going to Jiffy Lube.No rational manufacturer would make a drain that inaccessible to an average shop if they really expected an owner to drain it or have it drained. Most of us throw such large amounts of good oil away, it just can’t matter. Military or not.
That's preferable to not draining the cooler and the brain dead techs adding 7qts and over-filling it, which ends up damaging the O2 sensors and the cats with all that lovely blow-by.OK- so I had the dealer do my first oil change yesterday, the oil techs 😂😂 knew nothing about the oil cooler. After going to the office they checked with a Machanic and he said yes to drain the cooler also(he came over and supervised). knowing they replaced oil with 7qrts I checked my oil today and it appears to be a little low(oil comes to the bottom of checkered line). Appearantly I need to add a 1/2 quart
Absolutely drain the oil cooler for the same reasons you drain the oil pan. When changing oil on a 6.2 liter (717hp)is it required to drain the oil cooler if so is it still 7 qrts?my 17 SP also required 7qts and as we know there is no oil cooler
I rest my case. 9 push pins. Stock up.2016 Hellcat; 4 10 mm hex head bolts to take rear cover off; 9 push pins and 5 7mm hex head bolts to take front cover off. Takes like 3 minutes if that. To not do it the right way is just plain lazy, Especially when you already have to take the four bolts and the rear cover off anyway to drain the oil pan and take the filter off.
Here you go. Straight from the 2016 factory service manual. Reference step 9.19 fasteners. That’’s baloney. Please attach link to manual recommending a cooler change.
