Thanks, just ran up to Lowes bought a 93 mm 15 flute 1 piece aluminum Craftsman filter removal tool $9.98 , hopefully its not junk as the factory filter is sometimes very tight, anyway, just rounding up some things to do my first filter change, not sure when I am going to do it as it only has 108 miles on it, just picked it up a few days ago.

Just wanted to add, you might run into a situation where the filter is on so tight that a 15 flute filter socket doesn't work (mine spun on the filter even with the exact 93mm 15 flute cup) I ended up using a Lisle oil filter wrench, and it came off without any trouble at all. This is the wrench I used:

Lisle 3/8" Drive Oil Filter Wrench 3-1/8" to 3-7/8"

Eh, I've always just punched a hole into it with a screwdriver, then use the screwdriver handle to break the filter loose. Hand remove.

I resorted to the screwdriver on my 06 R/T on its first change, and there almost wasn't any housing left of the filter to turn with the screwdriver after I finally got it off because everytime I tried to turn it with the screwdriver, it would rip more than it would spin. If it had ripped much more, there would have been no way the screwdriver could have removed it, not to mention the filter wrench ended up with much less oil splatter/spillage to clean.

Only time I use a screwdriver is to punch a hole in the bottom to let it drain, then use a ziploc bag to remove, way less mess.

Just ordered that Lisle #63250 oil filter tool, just gathering some tools to do my own oil changes, it might be a while got 108 miles on it now, just watched a guy on u-tube do a oil change on a redeye looked very professional but he didn't drain the oil cooler, this is why I feel I got to do my own, who can you trust,Larry

I was a GM guy forever, and oddly enough the really old filter wrench fits good enough to loosen it; like for the Fram PH13? Secondly, I found the wrong filter on mine (bought from dealership last February) for the first change, and my 2016 CTS-V wrench fit that!

Remember to remove the plug in the bottom of the side of the oil cooler to drain THAT oil, also, Larry.

Also, K J magnetics for some flat bar through-the-flat-side-polarized magnets to put all over the oil filter (removable and reusable,) get the high-temperature rated magnets. Also others make magnetic oil, trans, rear and and oil cooler plugs to also gather any magnetic debris to keep it flying around and doing no good.
