Changing my oil at 691 miles today. Noticed this when I got the cover off:
Automotive tire Automotive lighting Hood Automotive design Motor vehicle

There was a film of oil on the filter and a drip coming off the fittings. My pan also had a film of oil. Nothing on the inside of the plastic cover. Can’t find any drops on anything anywhere.
The oil level was full.

My filter was very tight as well.
destroyed it removing it.
need a 1/2 in drive ratchet with some serious torque to remove. Used the 3/8 at the end once I got it loose.
Tire Automotive tire Tread Wheel Bicycle part

Should I bring to dealer or just get under there in another 100 miles to check out.

Not the easiest for me to get under there. Guess I need some upgraded ramps!

You might check both connections at the Filter Manifold Base where the two big metal lines are connected.

You can clean everything and see if it repeats.

Might be a dealer trip for some warranty.

Looks like o rings leaking going to oil filter adapter base. Mine was dry as a power keg. I would definitely at least have it looked at and documented . Should be dry as a bone.

They install the filters dry as well as being a little tight, that's why they are so hard to get off. This is done at the engine plant in Saltillo, Mexico probably on orders that this filter is not to accidentally get loose and fall off under any circumstance.

This is the exact issue my '21 Hellcat has and unfortunately I can't give you any tips because mine hasn't even been resolved yet. Just like you I found oil drips in the same way when I did my first change at around 500 miles. All dripping down the factory filter. Did the oil change, replaced the filter and made sure the lines were tight as best I could. Everything seemed fine so I figured it was just a fluke but no. Dripping continued. Appeared to come from either the cooler line fittings or the filter adapter itself but it was hard to tell. I even ran some spare AC Delco dye I had through the car myself but it was still tough to see exactly where it was originating. Especially without a lift.

Took to dealer where I purchased the car. Typical dealer service center, they tell me they ran dye and could not find a leak. I basically asked them to concede that there was in fact a leak, clearly there is oil dripping and even starting to seep all over the plastic maintenance pan. They agreed but went with the standard cover of "if we can't easily diagnose it, we can't get authorization from Chrysler to replace anything". So I continued to drive the car for a bit. Kept a close eye on it, did another change. Dripping continued but did not seem to be getting worse. Debated if I should give the same dealer one more shot or try a different one. Decided I would go back to them again. This time after they had the car for an afternoon they told me they would replace the oil filter adapter and fittings, which is what I requested they at least do the first time around. I figured this would definitely fix the problem. NOPE.

I took the car back from them after they installed the new filter adapter. Ran the car hard a few times a week over the course of a few weeks. Took a peek underneath. Seemed completely dry. Figured I was in the clear. Because in the past it would always show drips after only about 5-7 days. Fast forward a few months up until just recently. Took a peek under the car, oil dripping all down the fittings, filter, and serious oil/dirt crud built up all over the plastic maintenance pan. I'm at a loss. Especially because it seemed like it was good to go with no drips for almost a month after the new parts.

This was only a few weeks ago and I have not taken the car back in. I don't even live in Michigan anymore so will need to find a new dealer. Really love the car otherwise and she always runs strong. I've never noticed the oil on the stick showing low. But I do change the oil every 5-6 months. But this does not give me the best confidence. Very frustrating to say the least. Especially when they are leaving the factory this way and cost at least $70 grand.

This all sucks on cars made on state-of-the-art CNC machinery. But back in the day, my new '79 Z28 was leaking/consuming oil. The standard then was 1qt in 700mi is "normal". After that, I don't worry about a couple drops here and there. I know things should be better with our babies, but remember, they are beng phased out and we are obsolete.

That’s weird. They probably replaced the oil filter adapter and fittings with another poor quality part. And/or O rings.
Nothing surprises me anymore with a lot of dealerships and manufacturers Because they are still losing a lot of money since COVID and the chip shortage.

Also, there’s just One more year for these cars and the 6.2L and 6.4L.
Glad to hear you went back and pressed them to try and fix it though.

“If we can’t easily diagnose it, we Can’t get authorization from Chrysler to replace anything” This quote proves my point.

The oil filter on my ‘03 Cobra always leaked some oil. It wasn’t a bad leak but I tried to tighten it a little which didn’t work. I never over tightened. After awhile I didn’t care anymore. Probably the oil filter adapter wasn’t properly CNC machined. I owned that car for 16 years.
‘No car is perfect. Lol….that’s for sure.

Should I bring to dealer or just get under there in another 100 miles to check out.

Not the easiest for me to get under there. Guess I need some upgraded ramps!

Just changed my oil and filter a couple weeks ago, 2021 under 500 miles on car, my oil filter was same way, oil on bottom, none made it to the belly pan, when the filter came off the rubber gasket stayed on the engine side, they must put these filters on dry. I am not going to worry about it for now.

My factory filter was also on absurdly tight. Like the OP i crushed the can taking it off. The gasket was not stuck to the adapter though. Dunno why they put them on so tight. Every new mopar Ive ever changed had an over tightened factory filter but the Cat was the tightest by far.

Don't forget to drain the oil cooler.
I did the oil cooler😉

Thanks for all the responses.
I will check it out every few hundred miles.
Have to bring it in eventually for the TPMs recall so I’ll mention it to at least set some precedent.

My filter was super tight as well. No drips found however. Looks like you got the ceiling height for a lift. Just saying ;)
Its right at 10 feet. It’d be tight. Would have to modify my garage doors too.
It’s on my things to think about!
