I've loved Hellcat since day one and waited many years before getting my beautiful 2017 Pitch black hellcat. I loved that car and it treated me right for a year with no problems at all.

The problem was....as soon as I first saw the Octane Red Widebody, it just blew me away. I was dreaming about one of those for a year and I finally picked mine up yesterday.

I drove from Virginia to Alabama on Sunday and picked my 2019 Octane Red widebody challenger Redeye on Monday morning. The car is unbelievable (the dual racing stripes are peeling a little) and it drove fantastic all the way home yesterday.

There are a lot of great folks on this forum and I truely appreciated their input and advise about purchasing the car.

Here's my new baby (she's very dirty)

Beautiful car! How fast did you get it up to on the way home?

If you're not super in love with the stripes I'd ditch them. They're a PITA to maintain and inhibit a good buff job on the car. If you do plan to keep them, the best thing to keep them looking good is back to black by Mothers (per SRT). I had carbon ones on my HC and eventually they got peeled off. Was tired of wiping them down and then rain washing them out leaving a dry mess behind.

My buddy said (he's a Ford guy, so I take it with a grain of salt...) that he's heard painting them and then ceramic coating them is the way to go. I have to remove the current stripes because they are fading and peeling.

What do you guys think about painted stripes and then ceramic coating?

Thanks

Definitely be the way to go. But expect to pay a little bit to have it done right.

I do not like red, but I like octane, it looks great! Good luck!

Painting stripes would be best, but….

The best way to paint stripes is to paint the stripes directly on the base coat, then clearcoat after. Now you have a clearcoat and will be putting stripes on the clear, no real problem except that you are doing an additional clear coat on both bumpers, hood, roof and decklid. Again, not a big deal, just a lot of work. You need a good painter to assure the texture matches. Not cheap. But please, if you do it, post the results!

I ordered w/o stripes thinking of putting them on after, 3M has a cool textured Anthracite, similar to OEM Carbon but more silver. But I worry about durability and this thread has me seriously thinking about keeping no stripes.

I actually love stripes and looked and looked for a Redeye Exactly like the one I found. I drove from Virginia to Alabama and got there on Sunday night and looked at it. I guess I have OCD and have to realize it's just a car, but I bought it with the full intention of keeping it for the long haul. When i got there and saw the stripes I almost backed out of it. The person that owned it before me liked putting all the little things on it (hellcat puddle lights, blacked out rear side marker, CAI, supercharged badges on the hood, hellcat door sills and the pin stripes)
I like some of the stuff, but the pin stripes just get to me. I probably see it more than most....but, it's all I see when I'm looking at the hood.

Here's a couple pictures, I'm sure most people would say just chill...

Definitely irritates the hell out of me....the rest of the car is very, very nice and I loved driving it back from Alabama.

I've been watching YouTube videos on removing stripes and I'm debating on if I want to do it or just pay somebody that knows qhat they're doing to remove them.

My buddy said, I love this color and liked at it closely and looked at the stripes and said "looks like these are peeling a little" he wasn't trying to be a d*ck he just noticed it right away.

Look at that flake. Shame to hide that paint with stripes. Rip em off. Heat gun low heat and pull. Be sure to paint correct after you'll have ghost stripes if you don't.

Im on the exact same fence about stripes. Also looking at the 3M products. Torn bad between striping or not. If you do, post the results man. I will do the same if I stripe my SS.

Deal, looking at my current stripes and then looking at the paint....I'm really leaning hard towards removing fully and PPF and ceramic coating the entire car. If I do any kind of stripes at this point they will be painted and I'm probably not gonna spend what they will ask for painted stripes.

I'll definitely let you know which direction I go.
