Hello experienced racers I was just wondering the optimal tire size for the 17 x 11 rim for the quarter mile? Thanks guys
Everything I've had has been Wide Body. There's no clearance problems at all with the WB.@TNRedeye since your in a Challenger did you have to pound the wheel well ribs to keep from rubbing with those tires?
Is that the best size?I have a set of Weld 17x11 wheels that I use for trips to my local track. I run the MT 315/50-17 ETStreetR. They fit the 11" width well.
What’s your opinion on this? Go with the 315 50 17?Also the 315-50-17 Mickey Thompson ET Street R is 29.4 tall and tread width of 11.2, section width 12.7
See here: MT ET Street R
Chris, yes, I would get the 315-50-17s, especially since you have the deeper rear gear, with the 3.09s. A smaller tire is always faster IF you can get it to hook up, but the next size down is only 28" tall, and the taller 315 tire will give you a larger contact patch on the ground. Plus, as someone with a RE said above, they fit without modification or wheel spacers. They fill up the wheel well nicely, too, on my NB HC. Just make sure to get the right wheel for your car. What’s your opinion on this? Go with the 315 50 17?
Awesome thanks. What’s the best rims bogarts? I heard weld is number 2?Chris, yes, I would get the 315-50-17s, especially since you have the deeper rear gear, with the 3.09s. Could a 10 inch wide rim possibly be better if I got it to hook?Chris, yes, I would get the 315-50-17s, especially since you have the deeper rear gear, with the 3.09s. If the 17x11 315/50/17’s fit with no problem will I still need to worry about backspacing?Chris, make sure you get the right backspacing.
You always have to look at backspacingIf the 17x11 315/50/17’s fit with no problem will I still need to worry about backspacing?
