Ohio based guy, wondering if I should pull the trigger today on a 2021 Super Stock or wait it out for the 22's

1. It's a guaranteed a 12 week lead time, so 9-1-21 delivery approx. Leaves 2 months of drive time, before Ohio weather turns to garbage.
2. We know on July 1st ish, Dodge will announce the 2022 changes. Likely interior mods, etc. coming. 2008 to 2014 (7 years) Major interior mode introduced 2015. 2015 to 2021 (7 years)
3. If I wait until fall order blanks, I should have a new car by May 1, 2022.

My thoughts:
  • who knows if there will be any incentives by the time ordering opens up for 2022
  • consider when you will take deliver of the car next year (and what chances it has of getting covered in salt getting to the dealer and then your house)
  • I was told 12-16 week delivery but that seems to have improved. Ordered 4/19 scheduled ship date of 6/22. Also based in Ohio

There arent going to be incentives from here on out. Those days are over. I would wait for the '22 order banks to open at this point. I mean your logic is sound, how much time will you actually get by the time it arrives? Extended build/delivery time will have your '21 a year old before you know it. The real deciding factor for me would be the fact that the normal late order discounts wont be there to justify such a late order so there's not really a payoff for ordering now. And then there are whatever changes they make for '22. You will have the latest greatest for a full season while not really paying much more if more at all.
No brainer to me.

With the chip shortage and current demand/supply, things are going to be insanely delayed and backlogged. Add into that they're going to start dropping some of the tech features in what they do build because of the lack of chips. You are going to pay MSRP+++ on anything of this caliber and the wait is going to hurt. Now is a terrible time for new cars.

Order one basically if you want a year old car this fall. Or order a ‘22 early and enjoy it for a full season before it’s a model year old. Seems like youre not really reading the replies lol.

I don't think we know that. Come July we'll still have 4 months left of 2021 production so can't see them saying too much about 2022.

I had a VIN the next day also. It took about a week for SRT to show my order in their system. SRT told me there would be no delivery estimate until the order was in D1 status. Once the car is built the shipping time from the plant will take up to 3 weeks to get to the dealership. The cars leave the Brampton plant by truck and are dropped off in Toledo, OH. Then wait for another truck to ship them to the dealership.

Thanks for the info! It’s always nice to know the process.

I ordered a Super Stock this morning. $6k under sticker. I'm 56, and the sand is running out of the hour glass. I don't have time to wait for the 22's. I'm living now!!
Appreciate all the responses in this thread, and the time everyone took.
Seems like you already had your mind made up before posting the question then lol. Or maybe not? hard to tell now lol.
