I have been looking around and thinking about ordering a HC, but I really wanted a M6. Unfortunately as everyone knows, the M6 isn't available. I went ahead and gave in on the A8 after driving a couple of scat pack cars. So I ordered a Hellcat at the local dealer.

My questions is, the POC I have shows the $2995 upcharge for the A8, even though there is no other option right now. Would that be a point to negotiate on? Has anyone had luck waiving the charge for the A8 on a Hellcat order since it is essentially the Default/Only transmission you can even get at this point?

Not gonna happen.

Your only chance is to negotiate 2995 lower than what they are asking. If you are already there, that's the breaks.

But to flat out say "I really wanted a manual but can't have it, so I don't want to pay for the auto option/want that for free" isn't going to fly. Their answer, "OK, buy a different car that has a manual."

Zero negotiating on specific options. Negotiating on total price is different, like he ^^^ said.

I did the same thing since the M6 isn’t available. I drove an A8 HC and it was fun so I think we are gonna be fine with the A8’s.

Try driving in M mode using the shifter. Trans in track, everything else in Street. Best of both worlds.

That's kind of what I expected, and the A8 is a solid trans. It's certainly more responsive and quicker than I expected. I just half expect Dodge is holding onto it as an upcharged option to make extra cash before they go "Opps sorry, it's the only trans you can get now and is included in the price" like the other Hellcat trims. :ROFLMAO:

If they get rid of the manual all together, they'd likely just raise the base price of the hellcat to include the A8. I wouldn't expect them to just start giving stuff away.

Bro don't compromise. You're gonna hate it. If you want a manual, just wait. Period. I went to order one today, M6 unavailable. I'll wait. Not making a mistake with the A8 again. Not for me. If I'm gonna pay that kind of money, my next cat has to be EVERYTHING I want. No compromise.

Lol. They don't have a different car with a manual though. And it wouldn't be a Hellcat so...

Exactly...pay up and get what we offer cuz it's your only choice.....or go and try to find something else comparable (which you can't).

It's a sellers market, and it is going to be this way for the time being, people who want a car are going to need to understand the deals aren't going to be as juicy on anything now.

Yeah dude I tried to get a order setup today for a M6 widebody... omg I hope they don't kill it. Looks like the manufacturer don't even wanna bother.

I would say it's a safe bet that there will be no more M6 Hellcats. The option isn't even available on any of the other trim levels, that combined with the dissolution of SRT - I just don't see them suddenly allowing orders for M6 cars again, who knows with all the BS going on globally.

lol you don't really expect M6 owners to believe you flipping a paddle with your finger is the same as driving a real M6 car right?

Not trying to start an argument, just find it hard to believe its the best of both worlds when that not even relatively similar to a real manual car...

No they will bring them back. This has happened before, there's a post on this site, at least one, where they stopped allowing orders on them until October. Probably only allow them right when the new model year starts. So 2022 probably.

They have no option of bringing them back until they can get the manual cars to fit into the new EPA standard, It is not a supply and demand ploy on dodge to rake in more money, its a design issue that is inhibiting production...

I think most people are much happier with A8. I have had manuals since 1972 and the HC M6 is clearly the most difficult manual trans car I have driven. A8 is faster in every respect, especially when you want to pass or prevent some jerk from suddenly cutting you off. But I am hard core, unredeemable manual, I would not trade it for an A8, ever, but most people have a chance.

Ah, that I hadn't heard before and makes a lot more sense. The EPA seems to have had themselves extra fun lately crapping on the performance party.
