An August order has pretty much a zero chance of a Sept. 7 delivery in the best of times. Shortage had nothing to do with that. You can still build a 21' on the Dodge site, no sure you can actually order one and what's the point of getting a 21' when the 22' is essentially the same but upgraded security and only another month wait? Another post said that November is when you can order the 22'. A February delivery date may be optimistic. Buddy of mine order a scat pack on Vroom in August, sitting in a lot somewhere just had to ship. Had a estimated delivery date of September 7th, still hasn't gotten it yet. Chip shortage may be the biggest contributor but there may be other shortages that might delay manufacture and transportation continues to be problematic. Steel is in short supply, many of the chemical agents used in the manufacturing process are also in short supply.
Vroom sells used cars....he was implying that even just the transportation is/was being an issueAn August order has pretty much a zero chance of a Sept. 7 delivery in the best of times. Shortage had nothing to do with that.
Agreed, I'm looking more at new contributing factors for delays that are currently causing so much uncertainty across all manufacturing industries. Vet Rider's car is being held up specifically because they don't have chips. Without much input from Dodge on the actual production of the 22's, lead times on orders may be getting longer. I wouldn't be surprised if builds ordered in January don't get delivered until July. Whereas it may have taken 3 months to get a car a couple of years ago, a six month wait may be typical for the foreseeable future. The 20'-21' line delays were directly related to the COVID restrictions, the 22' and possibly 23's are from the backlash those restrictions caused. A global workforce in flux and raw materials that weren't produced to meet current demand are now being produced to fill those back orders. It may not be the chips causing the delays in the future. An August order has pretty much a zero chance of a Sept. 7 delivery in the best of times. Shortage had nothing to do with that.
I think a big part of build time is the choice of options, but yes the last thing you wanna do is take delivery in a blizzard, timing it just right is best…I ordered mine on March 1st, thinking the worse case scenario would be the middle of June.. it showed up at the dealer on June 28th so 4 months of driving and then some before the snow fliesI’m ready to pull the trigger and order my Hell Cat. Does anyone know what the approximate lead time is lately. I live in Western NY and don’t want delivery until the snow and salt is gone. I’ve heard 6 weeks to 6 months!?!
I just ordered a RE WB this past Wednesday, dealer said been averaging 12 to 16 weeks (who really knows) and more importantly its a 21, ordering is not open yet on the 22s at least for Red Eye Wide Bodies. I can say ordering is goofy, in order to get the roof and HK stereo, I had to get the warp speed rims…… I hope this helps.I think a big part of build time is the choice of options, but yes the last thing you wanna do is take delivery in a blizzard, timing it just right is best…I ordered mine on March 1st, thinking the worse case scenario would be the middle of June.. it showed up at the dealer on June 28th so 4 months of driving and then some before the snow flies
Was that forced by the system? Curious to know as to why you had to do that particular combination? I fail to understand why a particular set of wheels needs to be ordered in order for you to get the other two packages... That mustve changed since ‘20. I was able to get that combo with the standard wheelsI just ordered a RE WB this past Wednesday, dealer said been averaging 12 to 16 weeks (who really knows) and more importantly its a 21, ordering is not open yet on the 22s at least for Red Eye Wide Bodies. There was no explanation, the GM of my local dealer is a friend of mine we sat together on the order portal, he called his rep, there were no notes on the portal about restrictions, took us an hour of randomly clicking packages to figure why the Brass Monkey rims i wanted were greyed out. Sorry, I know not very satisfying answer. Was that forced by the system? Curious to know as to why you had to do that particular combination? The restrictions on particular equipment / options I think is changing very often based on dates on the ordering portal notes. That mustve changed since ‘20. I was able to get that combo with the standard wheels
This makes sense. Hard time to order right now. Really happy I ordered my 2020 before all of these shortages hit. Not only are the deals worse now, but buyers have to bob n weave with options they dont even want - even when ordering. The restrictions on particular equipment / options I think is changing very often based on dates on the ordering portal notes.
My total guess is supply chain probs.
Waiting on Dodge....they would call me when it was available again,
