Just an observation on my part, but when I use manual mode I hardly ever use the paddles I always use the console shifter. Having owned many true manuals over my life it just feels more natural to me.

I love using the stick like a sequential! It’s a blast. However, when hustling my 4500 pond beast through the twisty‘s, I prefer to keep both hands on the wheel And engage my paddles. 800 hp makes her lively, especially it the tight stuff.
That makes sense, not a lot of twisties in my parts unfortunately.

I wouldnt advise using the paddles unless doing straight line pulls and even then the A8 will shift on it’s own faster. The paddles are more of a gimmick imo. It’s awfully easy to twist your arms like pretzels while trying to turn the wheel while using them. The twisties is where you def dont want to be doing that. I drive in M mode almost exclusively and use the shifter.

kind of reminds me of when i was a youngster and dad bought a 61 impala ss with a 348 powerglide. His first auto. he insisted on starting in low and manualy shifting it. Possibly made more sense then then it doest today. Unless your a pro that computer is going to shift smarter and faster then your brain ever will. Dont understand the thinking that its better even if it is slower because I CONTROL IT and IM A PRO. Dodge knows this even if you dont. Its why the redeye demon and 1320s arent even offred with a stick. They out to save a 100 bucks a car and ditch the paddles too.

I used the paddle shifters 1 time when I first got it. None since.

Never had paddles, but have one on order. At my age I expect to almost never use them. When my old brain says "SHIFT", it ain't gonna' be telling my fingers to pull a paddle. They are probably a great feature, just my programming is not coded to respond that way. Hey, I learned on fortran IV! (With punch cards!) Whut??? LOL!
