I am getting SO sick of people trying to make themselves feel better about their regretful purchases of 'lesser' cars by tearing apart the Hellcat and not giving it the credit and respect it deserves!
That was one of the BIGGEST reasons I stopped frequenting the "Talky Challenger" place from the past and started hanging around here. The V6 guys would tear down the V8 guys at EVERY opportunity and try to talk up their slow, cheap azz purchases. It always felt like they were a stupid little Chihuahua or Yorkie on the end of a leash that NEVER knew when to stop barking until someone got fed up and punted it into a swimming pool.
I'm not saying there isn't a time or place for the 'entry models' but if you honestly buy one, then sit back on a forum or attend a car meet and try to insist that you somehow made the "better, smarter choice" and that your whiz-bang 6 cylinder is in some way SUPERIOR to something like a 392 or Hellcat, YOU'RE CRAZY (and stupid)!
For example, there is a video posted on the YouTubez reviewing a Scat Pack Challenger... AMAZING car! Beautiful, powerful, sounds GREAT, good value for the money - I have nothing but love for the Scat Pack (and 392 for that matter)
But the comment section provided me with the chance to witness some of the most ABSURD statements I have ever heard when this poor SAP tried to tear down our beloved Cat to make himself feel better.

I was in market for a hell cat but chose the scat. Much, much, much better choice. You get MUCH more for your money
...and my PERSONAL FAVORITE:and it sounds 10x better than a hellcat. I test drove both and decided on scat.
He also went on to finish with this very insultingly hilarious line; The hellcat whines really loud which kind of starts to hurt my ears after a while (making it a garage-liver vs daily like scat)
What a TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!! I'm sorry but I had to vent somewhere and post these dumb comments for ALL to see and laugh at.I did put on a Cold Air Intake, and this growls so nice. I chose the growl over the whine lol, plus something about raw engine power feels amazing vs super charged. Not knocking SC's, but they sound like modded Civics to me.

He then went on to INSIST that the Hellcat was DOUBLE THE PRICE of the Scat Pack (he even admitted paying $47,000 for his Scat Pack - since when is a Hellcat $94,000??????)Ironside said:Seriously dude? LOL
"The Hellcat whines really loud which kind of starts to hurt my ears after a while" - that is the steamiest line of B.S. I have EVER read! The Scat Pack is a SWEET machine for sure and sounds MEAN as Hell, but to say it sounds better than the Hellcat means you are on some crazy kind of crack! To say the Scat is "10x better sounding" means you've gone FULL RETARD! LOL
With the markups and lack of stock at dealers, I'm calling STRAIGHT B.S. on you EVER having driven one (most dealers wont even let you SIT in one) and the things you say about Hellcats reinforce my doubt that you've had actual seat time in one of these!
Please tell me how you get "MUCH more for your money" with a Scat Pack and how it's the "much much much better choice" I just traded in my 392 Challenger SRT (which is more or less the same as the new Scat Packs) and compared to the Hellcat, the 392 felt like a "modded Civic" as you put it.
You say you prefer the "raw engine power" compared to the S/C 6.2L??? Coming from an owner of BOTH cars, I can't imagine what you're talking about and certainly don't know what is not to LOVE about 411lb/ft of torque at 1200rpm (read that again, 411tq @ 1200rpm) and 650lb/ft @ 4800rpm!
Not to blow my cars horn but, in every measurable sense, the Hellcat is VASTLY superior to the Scat Pack AND THEN SOME... Stop turning this comment section into a comedy channel!![]()
