Cars are a expense. Not a investment. Thought the only good reason to take out a loan for a expense was if you could write off the interest and the depreciation? How do you do that with a luxury car?
I buy a 7100 Lbs Escalade and deduct 100% with bonus depreciation. It sunsets Dec 31, let’s go Brandon!

Most people don’t and that’s why you’re seeing the market indicators right now.

Luxury items are tanking right now. The RV industry, motorcycles and ATV’s are way down. It’s just showing up in the used car market which is then followed by new cars.

I was surprised to read that the biggest hit on resale right now is the Tesla.

I’m a little sick of hearing about the covid scamdemic. If the black ghost wasn’t just a Challenger with stickers, i might order one at $500k adm just so the kids don’t get so much.
Buy them all and crush all but one of them. It might be worth something that way ;)

I am in the RV business, second generation, been through many hills and valleys. Sales have dropped like a rock and all my cash is in inventory.
We will be making smaller margins to move units. We will need cash flow to pay overhead. That means lower prices for consumers. This will be the same across most industries.

I am 67 and always thought "pound sand" inferred for you to waste your time in meaningless labor with your mouth shut, because I disagree with your opinion, thought, or position on one or more subjects. Example, Brandon can pound sand.
Put a 2 year old in the sand box…

Now take his toys away from him

It might get loud : )

Absolutely! The only one that I want to have believe this car is an investment is my wife. Shhhh.
The second you call something you buy as a toy an investment it becomes no fun!

Had a dealer text me today asking if I'd found a cat yet. They had a ADM when I called after allocations dropped so I moved on. Ive already gotten my order in, but asked what their current mark up was and why they all of a sudden had another allocation. "customer backed out on their order and our adjustment is 50k". I said thanks for reaching out, have a great night.

Like MOTORCAT I am 68 and I paid sticker for my 21 Super Stock if it tanks, then it tanks so be it. I bought the car because I wanted a Super Stock. I am at the point in my life I could pay for it and I was not concerned with the current interest rate or what the resale value would be. I am sure folks felt the same way at the end of 1971 and Cuda's and Challengers were sitting on dealers lots. My local dealer sold his last new fully loaded GTX in early 1973. If we only knew then what we know now.

On the hellcat if used 100 percent for business the maximum depreciation is 19200 for yr. 1 with bonus depreciation. The Escalade mentioned above has a gvwr of over 6k so you do real well with bonus depreciation. Of course if you are an employee it does not matter. No write off for you.

Yea if used for business and you use the “actual cost method” you write off all other actual expenses. Fuel, insurance, tags, repairs, etc. but in 2018 employee business expenses went away. So only for business owners.
