I've talked with people that work at Headquarters who said that they plan to crank these suckers out (challenger and Charger).. The dealer BS will stop!
We all need to just be patient (easier said than done) lol.. Was it the smoothest rollout? Perhaps not, but they had there reasons for doing it this way and its exactly to see who and what dealers are doing what. In time though it won't matter, they'll be available to buy off the lots just like Vipers. I know there's some of you die hards that don't want to except that, but its a fact, there going to build the shit out of this Hellcat engine package, you won't have a collector car..

If a dealer can get a 20K markup on one car, then I think that they don't care if they can get more allocations or not. Considering that they would have to sell 3-5 cars at MSRP to gain the same profit.(Correct me if I am wrong.) So if the first allocation gave the dealer, say, 5 cars then why not ask crazy numbers until sold? Its shady and maybe unethical, but its economics.

im right there with you guys.. its getting old.. i really feel like a dope with this last allocation... i have a date set in my head.. if nothing then well.... ill be saving a boat load of cash.

i feel like ive purchased tickets to the greatest concert of all time.. woodstock, and am left standing at the gate while the bands are playing on and i can see and hear the excitememt of other concert goers.. even ones who just heard about it..walking in laughing and waving.

edited to add:
Its NOT the small local dealer or a sleezy one who is SCREWING ME.... ITS DODGE! i placed my order in good faith with large deposit.. it was my Dealers only sold order untill a month ago.. IF DODGE doesnt want my purchase.. i believe their competition or a Used lot will be happy to sell me something to make me giggle.

Lets face it, we are now into the 16th week since my order was accepted and 21st week since my ten thousand dollar deposit was accepted at a Certified SRT Dealer. I should have more then a VON at this point!

I like your Woodstock analogy... For me in my generation its much like hoping waiting and wondering if Guns N' Roses will ever get back at least once and it most likely won't happen... Yet people still want and hope it happens.

On that note, sadly the world lost Joe Cocker yesterday... Great performer and singer and Woodstock attendee. You didn't sing out of tune Joe, you will be missed.

I agree Dodge has done a poor job on this allocation BS. While I haven't placed an order as of yet (since I can't find a dealer willing to sell at MSRP), I will say I test drove a ZL1 over the weekend. Nice car, but at 6'6" tall, it was a very tight fit unlike the Challenger. It reassured me the Challenger Hellcat was the car for me so I will continue to wait. I think things are going to change in the coming months as more and more of these get cranked out. I'll stay on the sidelines for now, but definitely ready to buy one Dodge Brother (if you're listening)!

I agree DD, at 6'6" also and 280# the Hellcat is the right fir for me. I have a C3 Vette and I fall out of it to get out. Maybe the allocations should go by size and age, what do you think??:p:p:D

Why don't they come out now and tell people they are having problems??? People don't like being kept in the dark. Be transparent! Some people have their lives on hold with their money tied up! We are not Richard Rawling from Gas Monkey with deep pockets!

Texas Joe,

Slash is busy with Miles Kennedy! I don't know if the original members of GNR will ever get back together! I was hoping Led Zepplin would get together one more time! But the chances are getting slimmer and slimmer. Joe Cocker will be missed!

Greed can get the best of anyone, even dealerships that were once thought to sell at a fair price and were customer-focused. This allocation process is a tricky thing. The allocation process does help identify those dealerships that charge a markup through the use of days-on-lot unsold. The longer a Hellcat sits on a dealership lot, the days-on-lot increases and they won't get another Hellcat allocation until it is sold, even if their last 90-days of Dodge sales is large. In the short-term, a dealership may have gotten a Hellcat, but in the long-term, they hinder themselves both for this car, other future car releases and future customers.

Just like advertising, customer lists of dealerships that charge a markup, social media, and word of mouth are powerful things in the long-term.

Problem is though is if people are still buying them from dealers with the markups, they won't sit on the lot. It'll just be another quickly sold unit, and Dodge would allocate them just the same as a dealer selling at MSRP. This process is extremely flawed, and I think Dodge should just abandon it at this point and go to first come, first served. I'm highly concerned right now if they continue this for the Charger builds. I feel angry enough already for those of you who are suffering this process now.

Thanks TJ for this thread. Calms me down knowing I am not alone. My dealer, who I have bought 5 cars from just outright lied the entire time while they held out for +20k over MRSP. Good for them in Garden City NY but guess what, you'll never see this loyal customer in your door again. I travelled 20 miles to Greenvale where they were happy to assist me in placing an order. So now I wait patiently and enjoy all of you Hellcat owners stories.

Garden City... Gorgeous part of NY. My folks lived on 9th St. Just because there is money there doesn't make it right to gouge people. I learned from my father... He refuses to ever pay for a car over list and he has had many nice higher and high end vehicles over the years.

the intent of this thread is partially what you say... WE ARE HERE! We are not happy and want some answers. You have a sold product with us!

Hopefully if enough noise is made and the right people read or catch wind, we can get some relief

I think that some people are forgetting the way car business works. Dont blame me for what I'm about to say. Cars may have been dealer traded or if the owner has more than one lot move the hellcats to the lot that has greater sucess with dealer markup. The dealer can tell you anything that gets him thru the day and then tell you something different tommorrow. Dodge can't and wont get involved in this because they dont want to, there is a battle being fought right now in New York with Tesla trying to cut out dealers and sell directly. The dealers are not going to let that happen and if it does it will just be the same problem only with the manufacturer. All cars the leave the plant are sold as far as Dodge is concerned. The zone manager has some say on who gets certain cars and how many, just like any one of us has done favors for someone before, only now we are talking about cars. Customer service in the US is dead, I'm sure everyone knows what I'm talking about. Dodge is like a sports team or anyone that looks the other way because they don't want to know what dealers do, if they sell cars. The whole business works this way no matter the brand maker. A petition will only get a canned response from Dodge that will say they will look into the issue or talk to the dealer and that will be the last you hear. Now I'm not writing this as I think its a good policy, just the facts. Having unsold cars on the lot when ordred cars haven't been built should tell you what I'm saying is true, not good policy. This is not to try and stop any petition just preparing you for what may come, remember I could be wrong. Please don't message back that your Dealer told you this or that, just take this info for what it's worth. Good Luck

Your not wrong in your statement, I sadly suspect. But there is a day coming, sooner or later, that will lead to more internet sales & goodwill from customers. The dealerships will be more of a depot than a showroom. Less overhead & fewer sales staff. Grinding away at the old school ability to gouge the customer at the lot, IMO, will diminish greatly. This is already happening with forums like this. The ability to find the good dealer from the bad is already happening. If Dodge wants to reward dealers for the volume of sales like this, I suspect the likely hood of a repeat customer is greatly lessened. The dealerships & corporation are not giving these things away & still make a healthy profit at MRSP. Again Chrysler may choose to go down this path for a relatively small market, but I maintain that its the wrong way & could hurt their overall sales in the future. People may forget a lot of things but they always remember getting screwed over on a car & can repeat the events like it was yesterday to a willing ear...

Thanks for the insight. You've described what a lot of folks I don't believe are aware of how the typical process works. Our frustration comes from the fact of that in all the press releases from Dodge, it was said that all of this would be avoided as much as possible. Additionally, if I recall correctly, the allocation process wasn't announced until after official ordering began. The car business is what it is. Shady. It's their own fault for being viewed that way and the very reason I walked away from a promising career in it. They customers always get screwed. We just want some transparency and more importantly the car that so many of us have made deposits on. Money the dealers are making money off of, not us.

Thank you for your post... It adds to this discussion.
