I posted a request for info on pre-filters a few months ago. Did not get much help. So I pursued this through a company called "Outerwears". They made me one, works great. Doesn't restrict any air and keeps those pesky little bugs out of the air cleaner pleats. Now I am not concerned about removing the huge cone over and over to clean it. It'sd not an easy task. If you are unaware, the Redeye has 3 air inlets into that air box. So debris and bugs come from everywhere. This prefilter is awesome!! So glad this company makes it.
The filter in these cars is made by K&N and sold to Dodge. They do not make a pre-filter for there own filters. Amazing!!

They do slightly restrict air flow. However, dirty filters also restrict air flow.

I live in NW Florida where we get clouds of yellow pollen 2x a year. When that stuff gets moist, it can form into a semi-concrete like consistency and I've seen it seriously clog air filters. Florida, you know, where it's 100% humidity a LOT, everything gets wet and stays wet. I ran a prefilter on my HC solely to combat the pollen and bugs.

Now, what I'd like to see is a test on a prefilter vs. a test on a car with a filter at 5,000 or 10,000 miles of use. I'd be willing to bet that the prefilter equipped car is going to flow better. All the tests I've seen compare prefilters to stock new air filters, fresh out of a clean box. If you drive it for 500 miles, that filter is already starting to restrict airflow. The car with the prefilter is not going to get a dirty air filter... at least not with the JLT filter I had. I put 17,000 miles on it and went through 3 prefilters, and the air filter never got so much as a speck of dust on it.

so Op, how long have you worked for Outerwears?

BTW - go run around the block with a pillow case over your mouth and then come back and tell us how it doesnt restrict your airflow...

SMH, some people I swear!
Well, keep in mind that it's widely known that the Hellcat/Redeye air box+filter flows more CFM than the car can use. Does a prefilter drop it beneath the usable level? I don't know the answer to that question, but I ran a JLT CAI + prefilter on my 2020 NB Hellcat and it pulled a 10.98 1/4mi at sea level (Gainesville) and was able to pull 3.7 0-60s on all season tires on the street. So, it wasn't hurting anything in my case.

Who gives a shit?

Run as restrictive of a filter as you want during the week

How is that gonna slow you down at the drag strip when the car is on the track and the filter is in the trailer?

Pre filters are for racing Baja. Put one on a class one truck we built cuz you gotta. It’s a staggered start so owner had to chase and pass a lot of vehicles. The dust is insane. I would never put one on anything else tho

so what you are trying to say is that I can ditch my filter and only use a prefilter? After-all you said your filter was good as new...not even a speck of dust

Engine Masters said otherwise, and you can watch for yourself. HOWEVER, it was only on a 550HP/500TQ 6.2. Either way, I use them all the time, even winter, unless I'm at a track in nice weather.

Lastly, it looks like K&N DOES make them; at least according to Amazon..........

To each his own. I would rather just not use the net and clean the filter when it’s dirty? Is this really so it looks pretty? I have a open element like that on my other car and where I live there is no issue with the filter getting clogged with crap. Maybe if you lived in the woods and only drove at night?

Sure, I mean, that's kinda what turbo screens are for in race applications. Depending on the mileage, the socks I used only lasted 3-6 months. They have a coating on them that makes them near waterproof. Once that wears off, they start collecting moisture and get clogged up.

I called K&N a couple of months ago and they would not give me any info as the main filter is produced for Dodge. No part # for a pre-filter. If you have one for me to look up on Amazon, I'd appreciate it.

Wow....I guess no one likes the "convenience" of the pre-filter, as it keeps the filter cleaner for longer. And it doesn't hurt that most are water repellent too

But pulling pollen or bugs or dandelion seeds/cotton/whatever out of a dirty or wet filter (when you clean it) kind of sucks....if you want it perfectly clean/pristine again, anyways

My car came stock w a DRY washable filter

Don’t the hc’s come with the same sort of material for their flat filter stock airbox?
