Pulley's vs boost

11692 Views 20 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Speedy
How much boost will each pulley make?

2.85 upper
10% overdrive ati crank pulley
9% innovators west crank pulley
Would I need to change injectors for these?
Would stock demons injectors be sufficient?
Thanks

2.85 and 10% probably in 17-18 range. Definitely need injectors and possibly upgraded pumps depending on your fuel choice which definitely shouldn’t be pump 93 lol.
I thought a 2.85 made 15lbs. At sea level, but wasn't sure.

Yep and 10% is around another 3lbs
My question is
How much these pulleys make by themselves
I'm seeing almost 14 with a 2.85 and spacers, according to the dash.

What's your elevation?
I have the spacers but haven't installed yet.
Do they lower ait? Any issues with them that you've found?
673 for elevation, my IAT is about 25 above ambient with LMI intake, intercooler temps are about 10 degrees. No issues, did the install by myself, i've never taken the blower off so it was a learning experience on the connectors and such.
I'm trying to decide whether to go with a 2.85 or a 10% crank pulley. I'd like to pin the crank and I figured if I was down there anyway why not just do the pulley. Plus less chance of belt slippage staying stock on top. But didn't want to give up power over a 2.85 if the ati or Innovators West 9% makes less boost.

You will make more power with the 2.85 but you pointed out most people’s dilemma since it’s a good idea to pin crank why not do the ati at same time. Once you tune the car I don’t see any reason not to pin the crank. The hellraiser pullleys are very nice and some say you don’t have to pin with them. I have the 2.85 hellraiser and 10% lower but also flex fuel e85 tune. It’s too much boost for pump 93 but I have access to e85 and it’s all I use now.

I guess you have to decide what your end goals are. If you want to maximize boost on 93 than 2.85 with stock lower is the perfect choice. Then you have to decide if you want to pin or not. They do have stock lowers if you still want to do that.

Also highly suggest using a trusted hemi tuner with proven track record. And also not cheaping out on fuel system. These two are the most important choices imo.

My plan was to use demon injectors and have hemi tuner (AJ), Tim Barth, or livernoise maybe ost d yno tune it.

I have used ostdyno remote tuning and Mike is definitely one of top tuners for sure. Tim Barth is another highly recommended tuner.
My 2.72 and 10% made 17.9psi. (900ish ft)

I agree with Modirt, figure out your goals and If you’re only going to run 93, stick to the 2.85 only and pin the crank no matter what. Your warranty will be gone already. You can also get the stock sized ATI if you want an upgraded lower while you’re down there. Just don’t get the 10% if your running 93.
If funds allow get stock size ATI Lower and pin it. When your ready to step up to the 10% OD unit you can reuse the hub from stock size which is already pinned and matched to your crank and just get the 10% pulley minus hub and it’s a easy swap, no redrilling and repinning required then, and you can go back to stock size just as quick if wanted!!

Going to run 93 only not interested in tracking the car. Just want to have a little extra in case I happen to run into a gt 500 lol
Nice. Just go with the 2.85, pin the stock crank or get stock sized ATI and pin that, as we mentioned. Also its a safe bet to give yourself a little more rooms injector wise as you were asking. Either FIC 1000s or ID1050s if you know you're going to stick to 93.

Who's going to tune it?
Haven't decided
Curt dusterhauff
Mike ost dyno
Tim barth
Josh @ hhp

My son uses hp tuners so whichever one of these guys uses that
Curt and Mike use HPT, Tim and Josh use Diablo, FYI.

I'd have thought you'd make more with a 10% lower and 2.72? Mine hits 16.5 with just the 2.72 even in summer heat. I've seen 17.4 (or 17.5 gettin' old) in cold air in the track logs.

I was surprised myself to read that in some of your threads. Stock mine made 10psi so I felt it was a substantial bump and didn’t question it. I wonder why yours was making that much by comparison.
