Hello all. Spoke with my dealer this week. I am going in tomorrow to put an order in and deposit. He says they have an allocation in their order bank. I'll put down 1k. And am paying msrp. Any tips on what I should have in writing to protect myself from being stuck if it just sits without every getting a VIN?

Get whatever confirmation you can get on the MSRP. Nothing you can do to get a VIN until Dodge picks up the order, but the dealer should be able to give you a POC with a VON right there on the spot. The POC should also have your build status and build priority on it. Finally, ask your dealer how many he has been allocated and what number you are on the list. GOOD LUCK! Things appear to be moving faster now, but there are some who placed their orders when the banks opened up on 9/9 and still only have a VON.

Great choices! I hope you get your Hellcat.
You don't have to worry about protecting yourself if it doesn't get a VIN, they cannot keep your money if they fail to produce your vehicle. Perhaps have a backup plan, or name on a waiting list elsewhere, just in case they don't end up getting you the car. And have the deal in writing, signed by a manager preferably, confirming the price, --as that's what most Hellcat buyers NEED protection from, unscrupulous dealers that will sell their car out from under them if they eventually receive an offer on it that's substantially higher!

Also, try to get the VON number from them, asap, sooner than later. Rubes like me ended up waiting TWO MONTHS for a lousy VON...and I only finally got it because I annoyed the salesman so much that he finally got off his butt and inquired with the GM and got it for me.

I agree with the above.
Make sure the terms of the deal are disclosed on the contract - that you're paying MSRP, and the deposit is refundable if any of the terms of the contract are changed (other than pricing from Dodge). Also get a commitment on a trade in value if you're going that route.

Question about the build priority from another thread. Some got 99 some got 01, does it matters and what is the difference?

And don't freak out that the VON does not show up right at the instant. It may take 5 minutes or so to get generated so just ask for another sheet 5min and it should be there
