It is highly likely those older cars didn't have anywhere near the amount of power that you think/thought they had.Driving my Hellcat with the traction control turned off COMPLETELY got me to thinking.. I drove all sorts of modified cars in the 70s and 80s, including a supercharged big block Chevy with G60/15 tires, and It never felt as squirrley as the Hellcat at half throttle with the traction aid disabled. Not once did my older solid axle cars ever "get away from me".
