I'm sure the starter is staying engaged, but unsure why... It almost seems that the remote start system doesnt detect that the engine started, and keeps trying to start it, but times out and shuts everything off again. If it were possible to pull the starter relay immediately after it fired up, I'll bet anything the sound goes away... (Can't though, at least not easily. The remote start wont function if the hood is open...)
Also not sure what the engine is monitoring to verify running condition, it's not oil pressure or fuel/spark, so pretty much has to be RPM. May have a failing crank position sensor? Or, it could just be a bug in the ECM programming?
You could try replacing the starter relay, and then potentially the starter, but I doubt that is going to fix it.
