Looking into the ravelco for extra security for my car… system is about 600-750 bucks.. how is this system better than a kill switch mounted to the fuel line or battery? Trying to figure out if anyone has one ..or if others have a kill switch to a fuel line if that’s the better option?

The Ravelco is much more sophisticated than a simple kill switch.

Several critical systems are rewired through the Ravelco connector. The "key" they give you makes all of the required
connections to make everything work properly. There is no standardized wiring on their connector. Very solid concept.

A kill switch would be wired into the starter wiring/relay or the fuel pump wiring/relay.
Also effective, but not as comprehensive or difficult to defeat as the Revelco.

If you install a simple kill switch yourself, you could do it for $10 or so for the cost of the switch and the wire.
Done properly, the kill switch is very effective and difficult to defeat.

You can get very creative with a kill switch, for example you could use the horn button to enable the starter relay.

So then you would hold down the horn on the steering wheel to start the car in addition to the Start button.
Then you could add a switch someplace that would re-enable normal horn function. Just one idea.

ETA: You can do the horn kill switch pretty easily, but here's the "deluxe" setup. No horn when you start, and horn
works as normal after the car is running.

If you have an A8, you'll lose your remote start feature with either a Ravelco or kill switch since either one requires an in-cabin, physical action from you to start the car. Of course I'd rather lose remote-starting over losing my Hellcat, but I also know that many owners love that feature to warm up the cabin in the winter, or to cool it down in the summer before actually entering the cabin.

No auto-start, no car......... That's like losing heated seats and steering wheel!!!!!!!

Seriously? You can’t just leave the switch activated, depending on where you park, and have everything function normally? You just can’t remote start your car anymore?

You definitely could do that. I think he meant while it‘s activated and I agree, depending on where you park. I mean at home in my garage with a car parked in front of it? I’m ok risking it lol.

Leaving the switch activated would kinda kill (no pun intended) the purpose of having one. The Ravelco requires the owner to insert the male half of the switch cap (which most owners keep attached to their keychain) to complete the circuit to start the engine. But again, leaving the cap attached would defeat the purpose of having the Ravelco installed to begin with. In your garage it should not be an issue (although you still assume some minimal risk), but out on the road, at Mopar events, or anywhere else means you're probably gonna sacrifice remote starting.

I disagree. There are places where maintaining normal function and feature access will outweigh my paranoia. For example, at work my car is parked outside in the elements, but is in a gated, recessed lot that’s not open to the public. Remote start is huge for me while it’s out there, especially when I’m walking out at midnight in 15 degree temps.

Ironically, I agree with your disagreement. Ultimately it's what you're comfortable with that will determine your level of vigilance, but that should never detract from your enjoyment of ownership or your Hellcat owns you, not the other way around. I responded to this thread because not being able to use remote-starting while activating a kill switch or using Ravelco is something most people overlook when they make this decision, and people love remote-starting. I bought a new Challenger R/T Classic in 2013 specifically because the Classic package included remote-starting. I was set to install a Ravelco until I confirmed I couldn't use remote-starting while the device was engaged. Rather than lose that convenience, I used other less sophisticated anti-theft solutions instead, which I continue to use even today with my Hellcat.

Both are viable layers in the protection of your cars and should be used whenever suitable for the conditions. This in addition to sensors or legitimate alarm systems and other than UConnect reliance on GPS tracking if the car leaves a set area or is actually taken from you, to know where it is being reported at. Geofence feature is popular with LandAirSea54 puck for GPS notification if the car moves and reports travel outside a set circumference.

Stop posting about BMWs on here, bro.
I lack power

And worry is like paying interest on a debt I might not even have

Material items mean nothing. They may not even be real? It’s about the experience. I pray that every man woman and child finds a effective way to deal with their self centered core fears. I do not have peace of mind if I am worrying about not getting something I want or losing something I think I have. The Universe is gonna get it’s way… it always does

Everything is going to be ok… it already is : )

Wow..... that is deep.

I hope nothing I have gets stolen while I ponder that.
