Today, while swapping wheels and tires, I discovered that I have a seal leaking where the axle goes into the differential on the passenger side. I only have 211 miles on the car and have babied it. I really don't want to leave my car and keys with someone else. Is this the style where they'll have to pull everything out of the diff to install a new seal?

"The rear axle has been refined for the entire Challenger line, including a 230 mm ring gear on all V8-equipped cars. The ring gear is welded to the carrier for improved strength and efficiency. Currently, only seals, mounting bushings, and fluid can be replaced (Figure 27). Defective gears and bearings require replacing the entire axle assembly. "

I got it fixed today. The dealer had the seal in stock and it only took them a couple hours. I asked to see the original seal and it looked perfect to me. The tech wasn't sure why it was leaking. Hopefully it is permanently resolved.

Keep an eye on it for further leakage. The original seal may not have been properly installed at the factory. Or there could be a bad spot on the axle where the seal is.

Don't sweat it. That is minor stuff in the big picture and it sounds like your dealer is working hard to make it right. You will be back making boost in no time! Let us know how it goes.

I hear you. It always stinks when it is your car but like I said, could be way worse.

Warranties are good!

Hi all.

This could be a good conversation to jump into as I'm new to the club and I've just picked up my new hellcat and within the first 1000 miles and I noticed something like water and oil and "dry" oily residue on the garage floor. (Photo below).

In terms of its position on the garage floor, it's the center of the vehicle - and I've also heard a metallic sound at low revs easy acceleration, so gentle in fact that you don't hear the supercharger wine so this is pure car sound. Kind of like the metallic sound a highly tuned m3 would make...it goes away if push the car harder from low revs.

My question is; has anyone got the similar sound and has anyone seen any oil on the floor??. My dealer says it could be nothing after the very long drive I did ... 600 miles ... But the sound is keeping me awake at night LOL.

Thanks if anyone's got some thoughts

My car is a late 15 model - export.

I got the car with a couple hundred miles on the clock because it's a US export, but drove it steadily at below 2000 revs for 600 miles - I mean that will have been the best thing for the motor....for sure.

The sound bothers me and the liquid is something to check out.
