Over the last year I have been quietly building my19 Redeye into the street rod of my dreams. Although there is a mountain of knowledge and much help if you read and search the forum this is an area of many thoughts. My car is definitely built with old school thought in mind and not to everyones tas but it’s definitely working and so far it’s meeting my goals. Enough rambling so I will get to my discussion with a tech I won’t name at GForce. I raised my car 1 1/2 in in the rear and was worried about drive shaft angles. This is an area I’m not knowledgeable about as I was heading towards a 9 in Ford setup when I decided to try this route. When I asked about the angle after the new springs went in and sent pics of the prop shafts to them I was told that I actually helped the geometry and an angle. I was a little surprised that the cars are set up so close that lowering them even slightly could cause problems. Anyway I thought this was interesting and hope it helps someone out. Now I’m off to portland oregon for my new roll cage and parachute install.
im getting close to finishing my project with a 514 ci. Upgrade under the hood to be the last item.
Thanks for all the help through this fun journey

Thanks Machine, it does go against some peoples grain. I tend to like it as it sets. Rpm cage look great in brochures but it’s good to here from someone who has one. Did you go with molly or steel?
Thanks for the compliment by the way. Have a wonderful day.

Machine
can you send me some pics?
im getting excited now. I’m real funny about quality. With you having a good endorsement I’m gonna have to make the trip. I used to live right up the road from them before I ended up in Vegas. My company is in Lake Oswego.

Green Machine, I saw your car and your cage in the ROTM thread. Beautiful job! It looks factory! I love how the bar next to the doors will remove or even rotate I guess, to make entry and exit easier. Also, with that configuration I wouldn't hesitate to drive it on the street without a helmet.

Hossfly, your car is wicked cool! I've got a white Redeye too, but mine is still stock. What kind of times does that bad boy run?

Thanks Brad. We’re still adding but close to this setups plateau. The engine work is not wild and really doesn’t have to be to get the car into the 9s and that’s our goal. I wanted a 9sec streetable carwhen I started this. The wrench who has done my work is very strong and we have concentrated on setting the car up to be consistent, reliable and have a couple of killer tunes. One is for the we will call street and the other is a race gas tune . We know the car has all the grunt to easily hit the nines. We have a set of wide slicks we will run at the track since in my configuration width is not a problem. It launches like a rocket with no worry of wheel hop and holds the line very well at our little test road. When I get my cage in and chute on it will be time to go to the track and see if all this work has paid off. Im getting the cage that will be certified to 8.50 as I feel I’ll never get there unless the 514 big motor kit works out. I feel that the driveline will quickly be the limiting factor. There’s just so much to work with on the power side that any car on this forum with not a huge effort will see low 10.s to high nines if your willing to change the looks and probably hurt the value of the car. We’re gonna put the car on a diet with carbon fiber doors, decklid, rear seat delete (gonna miss my Laguna leather). I have no intention of selling the car at my age. This will probably be my last project. Alot of people don’t understand how you can give up a waranty and complete change the looks of a beautiful car as the stock Redeye is.its just a matter of what you like. I started this journey with 2k miles on the car. It’s definitely a matter of what you want. our goal is somewhere in the mid 9s on slicks and race gas tune. E 85 is not a route I’m interested in going but methanol injection is definitely going to happen with more intercooler reservoir capacity will be added. Probably not needed but makes street driving a little easier on the mill. With all that said when I get her finished I will post the times and hopefully she will hit The goals I’m looking for. If not the 514 definitely will but I start a set of new issues. We have been long at a new supercharger or the Hellion twin turbo kit. It just never ends. Anyway,I’m sorry for the long answer. Still a lot left to do but that’s the fun parts, right? I keep telling myself that. But until it’s not fun anymore I’ll just keep spending dollars. Thanks
