New to the group with a 2017 Challenger Hellcat.

I read that if the black and red key fobs are both in the car the red will over ride.

What if I go out and start the car with the black key fob, and then my wife comes outside and gets in the car with the red key fob in her purse,,,,,,,will it stay runnning on the black fob or switch over ?

Also, is there a place on the instrument panel that shows what key fob is in use ?

I believe one you start the car with overrides whatever your wife brings with her. On srt pages where you chose auto/custom/sport/track modes it shows which key is in use and what hp you have set. Also, when you launch the car, it shows which key is in use for a few seconds on your display behind the wheel.

If for some reason the black key does pick up instead, turn the car off. Then, with the red fob in your hand, push the start button with the end of the red fob. That will force it.

Just screwing with ya! I am waiting on my first SRT vehicle and need some stress relief because I know I've got a long wait ahead.

The black key is a waste of time, still unlocks 500 HP which makes it a hell of a muscle car already, don't know top speed. What exactly is it's purpose when you can change the settings in Uconnect for any fuel efficiency? As a security feature what, the kids or Valet can only do 150 mph now, that will help.

Never had a black with my 2015 Hellcat for over 100K miles. When picking up my 22 Redeye, the dealer asked me to use black key for the 600 mile ride home for break in. They delivered the car to me running on the black key. Stopped for gas halfway home and when I started, red key kicked in. Felt much better. It’ll never see a black key again. 😁

I agree this never made any sense to me. 500HP is more than most cars on the road. Surprised a Mopar exec or engineer never explained this???
