I'll bet the grille design and coolers get the job done, especially at speed. Thought I read somewhere that the extra vents on the 15-18's didnt actually do as much as you may think. Not sure if the extra vents would help a ton except maybe while idling. The chiller is there to help with heat soak as well. I'd be very surprised if FCA didn't look at that while designing the newer hood.

Why does the Redeye not have more hood vents?

I have noticed that on hot days a lot of heat seems to be trapped in the engine bay and it would benefit from more hood vents.
Being a fan of the "best hood ever put on an American Muscle Car" that the first-gen has, I suggest you buy a nice first-gen Hellcat hood, and make the intake system work with it, or get the glorious, screaming, Legmaker intake. That thing is a work of automotive, industrial, and engineering art. (The hood, but, come to think of it, the Legmaker, also.)

Millions of cars of various makes/models all are subjected trapped heat under the hood. Doesn't seem to be a problem.

I think you are imagining a problem where none exists.

Might mention just throwing "vents" at a hood without the proper aerodynamic testing may compromise engine cooling/engine compartment heat management when the car is underway. That' would be far worse as the heat load would not reach equilibrium with the compromised engine and engine compartment cooling.

Plus there's the issue of rain (and to a lesser extent wash water). I noted with my Hellcat and with my Scat Pack the vents on either side of the center of the hood are over areas where if any water makes it through the water is not wetting critical areas. With another car with a "open" engine cover -- louvered -- if left out in the rain upon engine start often the accessory drive system would be wet and the belt would slip sometimes for nearly a minute -- at idle -- until the belt/pulleys finally shed all the water.

Another thing u may notice. The R.E. (I assume regular hc too w newer hood) doesn't have the plastic cover in front of fuse box that goes over the abs/around the washer fluid reservoir on passenger side of engine compartment. If im not mistaken, the reason the newer ones don't have that cover (and why the cars w the old hood DID) was to shield the abs from water that was entering the engine compartment. (Atleast thats how/why it was explained to me. I ordered the cover anyway to put on mine bc imo it looks a lot cleaner). Just came in mail today, haven't got around to putting on car. If someone really was gonna switch to the old hood I figure that's something to keep in mind.

I think the 1st gen hood is superior for airflow and heat dissipation. The new twin scoop hood is more of a homage to the classic design so they gave up the slightly better airflow for nostalgia.

When the new hood came out, they said it was designed for better airflow (18%). I hated it because it really doesn't pay homage to any classic mopar design...more like Pontiac. It has grown on me over the last couple years.

Better air flow to the airbox MAYBE, but it certainly isn't helping any airflow under the hood.
