I used to own a 2016 HC M6. Today I test drove a 2021 RE; and since the sales guy was with me I was being respectful but getting on it gently, if that makes sense. And WOW I was impressed with the responsivenes.

I just don't remember my HC have the same responsiveness when I would hammer down on it.

Is the difference due to an auto vs a manual? How much of the difference is hp?

I’ll bet it had the 3.09 gearing. Ive had both and the difference is night and day.

The '21 RE has 80 more hp and the A8 is so much more responsive than the M6 in your 2016.

I just found the window sticker and don't see the 3.09 as an option. But I never thought of that.
I went from an 18 Hellcat Charger to a 21 Redeye Charger w/3.09 - massive difference in the two.

Could have been this or the M6 vs A8. The M6 gearing is really tall in 1st gear and most say it feels a little lethargic.

Wondering how much is attributed to the A8. VS the extra 80 hp.
its unlikely the HP difference and more related to rear end gearing or M6 vs A8.

Interesting on the gearing and great analogy with lethargic. As during the test drive yesterday, I was thinking I don't remember my HC feeling like this at all. Granted it's been 3 years since I owned a HC, but it was night and day difference.

The first three gears on Hellcat M6 are so tall that starting in 1st on Hellcat is almost the same as as starting in 2nd on Scat Pack and R/T.

2.26 x 3.70 = 8.36 Hellcat (1st gear)
2.10 x 3.90 = 8.19 Scat Pack (2nd gear)

Does the post say Charger somewhere?
Yes.

Well, not having been in a Hellcat in 3 years could also change your perception too depending on what you've been driving since then. You can drive a Hellcat every day and eventually it feels blah which is what often leads us to mod them. Or, I could drive my GMC Canyon for a week or two and then drive the Hellcat and its going to feel like a rocket. Perception gets skewed over time so it could be many variables at once.

definitely the gearing in the trans. i also couldn't believe the difference when i got a redeye but it was mostly the A8 the gearing in the M6 is just horrible.

All the Redeye Charges are 2.62 rear end.
