Hello everyone! I just took delivery of my 2022 Hellcat and I am loving it so far. However, whenever the car sits overnight and I remote start it in the morning, it starts then after about 3 seconds it shuts off. This only happens after sitting overnight, even after sitting for 2 or 3 hours it will remote start just fine. I used the feature in the center dash cluster to scan for any codes and nothing came up. When it shuts off I looked at the dash and it just gives me a generic Remote Start Disabled, Manually Start Vehicle To Reset. Does anybody have any information on this? It is brand new with only 400 miles on it, but I first noticed the problem when I went to start it the day after delivery with 71 miles on it. After some reading, people are saying it may be the battery, but it never struggles to start up. Any help would be appreciated!!!

The only time mine does this is when the low fuel light is on. It’s got plenty of gas, right? Any other weird electrical issues?

I’d try unplugging the battery and plugging it back in after a load test. You may have gotten a defective battery.

Full tank, not weird issues. As I said, it starts up perfectly normal and strong, then all of a sudden shuts off after a second or two. This morning I got in after it shut off, started it then shut it off right after, then tried remote starting it and it never shut off. It is the weirdest thing.

You can also stand next to the car (try driver's window down), trigger a Remote Start and then watch the center dash for any additional messages when the Remote Start is Cancelled.

You might have a defective hood switch...

Let us know....

My WAG is it is battery related. The battery may not be bad but just low. I note remote start works when the car sits for a shorter period of time.

My 2018 Hellcat was quite sensitive to sitting unused for more than a few days at a time. And when I did use it I made it a point to drive the car a good amount of time. So I'd use it for my 60 mile (round trip) work commute.

My Hellcat never failed to start. (I seldom used the remote start and the only time I did was after work when walking up to the car. So the battery was always topped up.) With a manual start after sitting for a day or several the Hellcat did seem to manifest a bit -- just a bit a hint -- of a slow crank but the engine would catch and run.

But there were other signs of of battery being low. Performance Pages would refuse to load. Or twice the uConnect display was full of wide vertical blue bars.

What can happen if the battery is low is upon start the battery voltage dips too low. This dip "glitches" the car's electrical/electronics and can interfere with their proper initialization. Which explains Performance Pages not loading or even the goofy LCD.

This low battery condition may be compounded if you do not lock the car. Or the car is too close to the keys. In my case my car was parked quite a distance -- hundred feet or more -- and way beyond the keyfob range. And of course I always locked the car.

I watched it once and no other codes came up. And the remote start always works if the car was driven less than 3 hours prior. You guys may be right that somehow or another my battery is slightly dipping when it starts up after a few hours and causing it to shut off. I am going to try to remote start it today leaving work after having it sit for 8 hours and see if I have any issues. More than likely, I am going to bring it by the service department wednesday and have them do a battery test and replace the battery if it is defective

Yeah, that’d be my first go of it. Start small, especially with electrical issues. I doubt it’s anything too complex.

I agree with @Rockster, probably slightly low battery. It's charged more fully after driving. My 21 sat for 2 weeks last summer & wouldn't start at all. I charged battery & no problems since. But I do keep a tender on it all the time.

The car is new. You can certainly have this behavior looked into have the battery checked. A new car can manifest a bad water pump fuel pump etc. so a bad battery is possible.

In my case I took my Hellcat in for a +paddle that would trigger a downshift. Shop foreman pulled Dodge proprietary error codes and there were several related to low battery voltage. This low battery condition had not resulted in any OBD2 error codes.

The shop foreman had a tech apply two updates, one to the engine controller the other to the transmission controller.

Because of the presence of low battery voltage error codes I did my part by simply using the car more often.

The battery was fine when I traded in the car after 33 months and with 27.4K miles on it.

So, a bit of an update. I have a service appointment for 8am Wednesday morning. I sat in the car, turned the ignition on and scrolled to the voltage meter, which read 12.0 volts and the car would not remote start. Therefore, I think you guys are onto something with the battery. My thought is when it starts the voltage dips way low and the car aborts the remote start. Thank you all so much for your advice!

Yes, definitely the battery imho. At 12.0 volts your battery is discharged, plain and simple. It still probably has enough to start the car remote then it will go through its check and notice the low voltage then shut the car down. This is what it's supposed to do.

So get a good battery maintainer like a CTEK or similar and charge your battery overnight. That low state of charge is not good at all for your battery so hopefully it will recover.

I drove the car 350 miles yesterday and it still had an issue today, so the battery is probably defective. Going to explain that to the service guys and my salesman Wednesday and say its a brand new car and battery, probably got a defective one, so please throw in a new one. I shouldn't have to charge a brand new car that was just on a road trip for the majority of the day yesterday lol

I’m having the same issue. Only 140 miles in and it’s happening only when I cold start as well. Did service do anything when you went?

Glad to hear I am not the only one! I brought it in and had them scan for codes, nothing found. The issue went away for a bit, but has just come back. I messaged my service advisor, sent him videos of the issue and made an appointment for my first oil change 2 months out so I can get a loaner and they can dig into the car to find the issue. My thought is it has something to do with either the battery or the new security upgrades for 2022...

Is this ONLY about the remote start? I have not even tried mine yet.

(I'm an old guy, not sure why I need this remote start thingy. I'm still getting used to the no key thing!)

BTW: Why do I need all these fobs?!?!?! Can't I have just one that tells all my cars (and house) that it's me and I'm ok?!?! I OWN YOU DAMMIT!! :)

Good plan. I am going to the dealership to get the ball rolling this weekend. I’ll update you guys as well.
