Good morning. Started my car this morning remotely and within about 8-10 seconds it shut off. Went out and looked at the display and it said remote start disabled. It has a little less than 1/4 tank of gas and I left the hood up all night so it would be cool this morning to add a little coolant after I changed back to the stock tstat from 180 tstat. That was another post. Any help/advice would be wonderful.

According to the Owners Manual:

All of the following conditions must be met before the
engine will remote start:
• Shift lever in PARK
• Doors closed
• Hood closed
• Trunk closed
• Hazard switch off
• Brake switch inactive (brake pedal not pressed)
• Battery at an acceptable charge level
• RKE panic button not pushed
• System not disabled from previous remote start event
• Vehicle security alarm not active
• Ignition in OFF position

Remote Start Abort Message On Electronic Vehicle
Information Center (EVIC) — If Equipped
The following messages will display in the EVIC if the
vehicle fails to remote start or exits remote start prematurely:
• Remote Start Aborted — Door Ajar
• Remote Start Aborted — Hood Ajar
• Remote Start Aborted — Trunk Ajar
• Remote Start Aborted — Fuel Low <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< THIS...
• Remote Start Disabled — Start Vehicle To Reset
The EVIC message stays active until the ignition is cycled
to the ON/RUN position.

I've found that if you open the hood then lock the car, then close the hood then try to remote start it the car will still think the hood is open and it will shut off. I know if Im going to open the hood, I leave the car unlocked. Then when I close the hood, I lock the car and the remote start works perfectly. But this is some sort of bug or maybe intended action.

I used to come home after ripping it around and pull in the garage. I would shut the car off, open the hood then close the door and lock the car with the button on the door handle. Then later that evening after the car cooled off, I would close the hood. Then next morning try to remote start and it would not stay on and do what you are saying.

So like I said I stopped locking the car while the hood was open. If I left the car unlocked then closed the hood, then remote started it, it would be totally fine and stay running. I have seen this behavior with other cars that people posted remote start issues with.

Mine does this. Nothing open, half a tank of gas. Just doesn’t work sometimes and shuts off with the above message.

Remote Start Disabled — Start Vehicle To Reset
The EVIC message stays active until the ignition is cycled

it’s intermittent and so the dealer probably won’t be able to diagnose it until it becomes more common because let’s face it they don’t care as much about warrantied cars. Anyone else have this issue and Find a solution?

Thanks for the info. Very helpful. Will try that sequence after work.

Low battery. After it starts, even though it had enough to start it, the car goes through a quick check and if there's anything it doesn't like, it will shut down. If you've got a battery maintainer, put it on overnight charge.

thanks! Will try that and see what happens. Sounds like it could be a cause.
