Went down to Fl for the Dolphins v Steelers game & decided to rent a AMG GT for the trip because why not?

I'll likely sell my C8Z, after finally sitting in a 3LT C8, if GM ever gets around to actually letting us buy one. I'm just not impressed at all. So I'm trying to narrow things down. I have been set on a V10 R8 for a while, but want to check out my other options as well.

GM still has the leather peeling on the dash issue (Been a problem since the C6). They seriously can't get that right by now?!

I know the C8 is a $60k car so it's not going to be new R8 or Bentley level of interior quality, but still. Oof IMO.

My lady also disliked the wall of buttons design...a lot.

Anyway, onto the AMG GT...

Definitely fun to drive & clearly has power. Not too bad out of the hole either. A lot better than my Hellcat LOL. :D

Loved all the carbon fiber inside. Loved the power adjustable bolsters on the seat. Something I have missed since I sold my 335xi long ago.

Fun to drive, handles well, etc. Definitely needs an aftermarket exhaust as stock is too tame for me. The seat bottom was very uncomfortable, though. My butt started to hurt after just a few minutes. I'm wondering if the seats in this one were some sort of special option competition seats & the base seats have more cushion?

I also could not find a spot to comfortably rest my right arm & hand. Ended up either on my leg or hand hanging into the open cup holder. Very much shutting off at lights & stuff. I drove in Sport+ most of the time so a non-factor for my short time, though. Also dislike no remote start.

Not sure if just because this was a Turo rental or not, but the trunk took A LOT of force to close right. Using the paddle shifters, the shifts were quick & smooth.

Overall, I don't think I would buy one if that is indeed the only seat option. If there are different seats, still no at the around $90k they are now because of upside down world, but when they get back to around $60k I think this car is a good buy.

Plan is to find a 911 Turbo & V10 R18, and I am sure other cars, around home & see what I like/dislike.

I had the chance to drive a 2020 Audi R8 V10 Performance at a local track day and I can tell you that car is a BEAST! It did everything well and was pretty comfortable (as comfortable as 4 laps on a racetrack can be :)). The acceleration was downright brutal and it brakes unlike anything that I've ever driven (carbon ceramic brakes).

I didn't have a chance to street drive it because it was a racetrack only event sponsored by Audi, so I'm Sorry that I can't give a street driving experience to you, but I can say that if you get a chance to drive one, I'd Highly recommend it.

You can't go wrong with a 911 Turbo either! That's my bucket list car! :)

V10 R8 is bucket list for me so I really don't see how anything else will win out, but I owe it to myself to at least drive other options to be sure

In my opinion, you really can't go wrong with either one!

How do you like using Turo? How does that work?

Buy R8 V10 Plus, send to UGR, win at life.
Holy Crap! That R8 is BULLET!

The app is pretty easy to use. I've known about it for a while and at this point I don't think I'm going to go back to using regular rental companies like Enterprise or national. if I need to run another car I'm just going to use this and rent something fun.

Before I rented this, I went on all the big company sites and Hertz apparently still has GTH mustangs available for rent and they cost over $300 a day. Lol wtf?

So I rented this car for less than that. Don't get me wrong, it's awesome that they still do the GTH thing but it's still just a mustang not worth $300 plus a day

That's my understanding of these cars, not recommended for a daily as they are not a comfortable ride, same for the AMG Mclaren version.

Sure, the Audi and Porche's are great cars, and cost 2x more than a base model HC. Personally, since the HC is being discontinued, I'm going to step down to a Chiron and Kick all of your asses :ROFLMAO:.

Been saving up and I'm only $3,295,000.00 away for dropping cash on one of these babies when I'm 140.

Thanks NeverEnough! I've been wanting to try it just don't have the time right now. I wouldn't pay $300 aday for a Mustang either.

For that kind of money, you could buy a Brand New Audi R8 and then take it to UGR (Underground Racing) and have something that would lay that Chiron to waste and be WAY ahead!

By the way, you're doing good on saving up for the Bugatti but don't forget to add $30k into your budget for when you need new tires.

This is just some free advice, but when you're 140, you could buy a Heavily modded electric wheel chair with a built in toilet and save the rest of the money for health care (nurses, CNA to help change your diaper, etc) and be better off since you'd be too old to drive that car anyway! :D
