With a mad dash to scoop up HCs I am amazed at how many can easily afford 100k cars. I have to assume that most members are in high income brackets or have made owning a HC a bigger priority than having a bigger house of sending their kids to private schools.

Just went out to breakfast at a mid-level diner. Ordered bacon & eggs, toast, coffee, small juice + tip... $24.50!!!

Things are crazy out there!

My 2022 was $78ish out the door. What do you consider a high-income bracket? In my opinion that is a relative term depending on where you live. For example I live in WV and can easily afford a Hellcat and a nice house and vacations. But if I lived in lets say Columbus or NJ or CA I would be broke LOL

I would have to disagree with the double "afford afford" statement. ANYONE can buy a car now a days. I'd like to know how many of them paid cash and have no payment.

True, making $100K a year in San Francisco or New York compared to Tulsa or Boise is a complete shift in income bracket. I just make a little over $100K annually but, I also live in a more expensive area so if I had kids I probably couldn't afford a Scatt Pack much less a HC, as I'm single and don't spend a lot of money going out to bars or buying expensive crap (like guns and or collectable action figures) it's worth it to me because I really like my car and it's more than just a means of transport for me, unlike my 2014 Malibu which got me from A to B and that was about all I required of it. I purchased a fully optioned 15' HC Charger used 5 years after it was produced, a new HC would be putting too much strain on my income as I already put 10% into my 401K, let's not forget gas is going to run over $200 a month for a daily, insurance is also going to be way more than an economy car. Biggest problem for the younger crowd is they don't take into account all the ancillary expenses that go with it, I must have spent close to $1,000 in the last year on just cleaning and cleaning products (I'm probably underestimating that amount by a fair bit).

No it’s more like Americans are terrible at finances but excellent at making payments. Have you seen some of the houses they are parked in front of, guys worried to death about gas mileage, parked outside despite high risk of theft, live in apartments, don’t carry insurance, etc.

It’s a weird thing with Hellcats because these same people think it’s crazy to damage their finances with a $100k Mercedes.

I live in NJ, my REWB Charger is my weekend car and I drive a 2008 Chevy HHR as my daily. It has 190K on it and my wife always says why don't I get a new daily. I tell her than I would have to give up the RE and that's not happening! Living in NJ is unbearable financially, my RE gives me to much joy to get rid out it. So until I either make more money or move out I'll be keeping the HHR indefinitely lol!

I'd say fully half of people who buy hellcats cannot afford them.
Judging from what I see on youtube and facebook.
Reason soo many are stolen.

That's kind of a random sample there. I've lived in Columbus for over 30 years and don't consider the cost of living high.
To answer the OP, I bought my HC used, it was 4 years old with 21k miles. Traded in my Scat Pack, same year and mileage, and it was paid off. So my payments are less than 300.00 a month. Sure don't have to rich to afford that.

That’s pretty cheap. That’s your problem though - don’t go out to eat! Ha. I don’t drink, don’t go out to eat, and have no other hobbies besides the car. I could, but just have no interest. That in and of itself is expensive enough. Tools, parts, equipment.

Tell me about it..... My daily is a 1993 Honda Accord beater I have had since 1994 while in the Air Force. Super cheap to maintain, 30-32 mpg and has been the most reliable car to date. Still on the original oem clutch, alternator, pretty much everything from factory with 260k miles as well. I need a new beater, but it is hard to let this one go.

It's truly amazing what a two-income household can do if there are only two people draining that income.
