If your SC goes bad and you get it replaced (either under factory warranty or mopar service contract), do they keep the broken one or let you keep it?

The online mopar store does not require a core charge for it. Conversely, buying a transmission does--so where no core charge is listed sounds like you should be able to keep the broken bits, no?

Well, it wouldn't be factory warranty, merely service contract--so possibly different requirements--thus I asked.
I'm aware of Bond SC repair services.
The supercharger would be powertrain warranty. If the owner had already exceeded factory warranty limits, then possibly a service contract would kick in. If it's a Mopar contract, it's still the same. They would want any large unit back that is capable of being rebuilt.

During the early days with my viper that I bought new back in 93 (and I still have), my local dealer service manager was very responsive on warranty stuff. He basically said that the dealership was required to hold onto any major warranty part for a certain amount of time and if Dodge didn't request the part (and prepay shipping) then the dealer got to "dispose" of it.

My dealer always used my home garage at his storage location pending his call for me to dispose of the parts for him. :)

I still have a basement full of those parts - like an entire rear differential, a complete headlight pod set, etc. Some of that stuff is worth serious $$$ now - especialy the headlight units.

There's no language in the service contract that specifies that replacing a part requires turning in the broken one. It also does not reference any other terms--it is complete--therefore not bound by any additional terms...

Like was already mentioned, if it’s the factory warranty they will want it to analyze it afterwards. It’s part of how they make improvements.

First you asked about replacement under warranty or service contract, now you've clarified only service contract, and you seem to be looking for answers that agree with what you want. If you really want to know, ask your service writer at the dealership.

Yes, I initially asked about both. Several responses answered the case for factory warranty leaving the answer for the case of a service contract remaining, thus I've tried to clarify why there is a question remaining since it is different.

I recently had my radio replaced on my 2020 Challenger Redeye.. the dealer had to order it. Service person told me dodge charges them $1000. on the core to be returned within 30 days.
That's still operating under the factory warranty--completely different from a service contract.

With a Mopar service contract, most folks take their car to a Dodge / Chrysler dealer for those repairs.
Again from my experience, any part changed under a service contract or warranty though Chrysler, those repairs are done in house. They don't give out replacement parts because a customer says so, or to a backyard mechanic. The dealer must perform diagnosis and report the findings to the service contract center. The service advisor then gets the required approvals. The parts department supplies the requested part and the tech hands in the old one.
You don't get to keep old replacement parts under service contacts or warranty. What happens behind closed doors at the dealer and why parts walk out the door is the same all across the world.
Once again, in my experience, any part that can be rebuilt is sent back for inspection. Most large parts are wanted to help identify the failure area.

Again, my point is that there is absolutely nothing in the service contract language itself specifying that if they choose to replace a part that it's contingent on a core return. And, it's a contract--if it's not specified in the contract explicitly it's not enforceable.
Factory warranty is another matter.

Well then ask them instead of asking us LOL. Go right to the horses mouth.
